Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga Bowletta Game Over Glitch

You can win and lose at the same time. While Bowletta does the shooting star attack, Mario and Luigi can die by the attack but also finish Bowletta off with it. This was done using an emulator, but I assure you it can be done with a physical copy (I discovered this on accident years ago). Once the screen goes black it will stay that way until the game is turned off.

Whats really creepy is the softlock. The music slows down and just keeps going...

The beanbean kingdom is screwed because Mario and Luigi can no longer get rid of their Bowletta problem, and the Mushroom Kingdom is now screwed because Bowletta plans to spread to there, again unopposed by Mario and Luigi, and Bowser as Cackletta stole his body.

Weird, you would think they would catch this in the bug testing phase. Does it also softlock/crash on the physical version?

This actually first happened to me on my cartridge version (it was a complete accident). They probably didn't catch it in testing because of how unlikely it is. It was hard enough to recreate it for the video.

8 years late but this also happens if you did over damage like 5000 glitch damage (that also happen to bowser where he is popple rookie but not inhaling part tho.)

I tried, and no. You get the normal Game Over screen. Bowletta’s death sequence doesn’t trigger unless at least one bro is alive.

Is it still an actual Game Over, though? Or...is it technically possible to beat Cackletta's Soul, and escape the castle, blind (assuming that there are enough sound cues for muscle memory to go on)? Conversely...if it is/was possible to get that far in this glitches state, what would happen if you got a Game Over against Cackletta's Soul as well (which would be overwhelmingly likely if you can/could even *get* that far in this state...)?
