I think Nintendo had a feeling the RPG remake was gonna get the bigger reaction considering they know how much people wanted a fun Mario RPG since the Paper Mario series hasn't been doing as well and the Mario & Luigi series is sadly dead at this point unless someone picks up the series lol

If there is a SMO2, it may take awhile considering how Wonder is the next mainline Mario game on the Switch. They tend not to release too many mainline Mario games per system (though they have been stepping up with the Wii U having three being 3D World, NSMBU, and techically New Super Luigi U
