I would say this is one of the best interactive dark rides created by any park. Yes it doesn't go fast but it's a modern dark ride with physical sets and animatrioncs that just happens to use AR to tie everything together. The ride without AR is a totally different experience so you can't judge this ride based soley on a POV without it. You need to experience this one in person to from a full opinion but thats why I included a POV as well with the AR to give you all a better idea!

I understand that the AR adds a lot to the ride but I still wish it was a family thrill ride instead of a dark ride. Could you imagine a Mario Kart ride with a ride system like Indiana Jones or Test Track? It would have been incredible and way more on theme!

@@TPMvids I can definitely believe that it has it’s own different type of thrill. It seems like a similar situation to Buzz Lightyear/Midway Mania where it seems kinda boring on camera but in person it’s a blast. I’m just sad as a Mario Kart fan that we didn’t get a ride vehicle that matches the speed you get in the game.

The fact you can rack up points when you play makes it epic and makes you want to ride it over and over. Which no other ride at Universal Studios Hollywood does for me. Almost all the other rides are just screens and the vehicle moving all around to simulate movement. I did Mario Kart eight times in a row and only left 'cause I didn't want the employees to think I was obsessed.

They could do more like the rainbow part of the ride to give the illusion of speed and install fans that would make it feel like you're going fast. Kinda like the 4D arcade games they have.

That track was twisted mansion from mk8, unfortunately not Luigi’s Mansion from mkds which is far better. Twisted Mansion is actually my least fav track from the entire base game. :(

This should've been a fast-paced slot car ride. Imagine how fun it would be to interact with the opposite car at high speed and have the capability of spinning out and throwing virtual items.

The AR cannot sinc at high speeds, and people’s visors would fall off. Also, this is supposed to be a kids ride, and there isn’t enough space anyways.

Im so glad there is still so much of an experience even without the VR goggles. I personally find with my vision conditions certain VR experiences and 3D experiences absolutely hurt my head. Due to this I tend to have to ride without the special goggles or glasses or close my eyes during certain parts of rides. This looks fun both with and without the glasses and I really appreciate that! 😊❤

It does look great either way, the animatronics are amazing but the only thing without the VR is it would be odd to hear the other racers, ect. but not be able to see them. My favorite part was Toad getting smushed by the thwamp. Never played as him in the games and thought it was the worst character. 🤣

Actually, it's very much possible for Team Bowser to win. This happens if one of the two karts on the track doesn't collectively obtain 100 coins.

I managed to avoid any spoilers (minus that it was an AR dark ride) so that I could be surprised when I went for the first time... it is so much better in=person than any video could set your expectations for! It's just like playing Mario Kart for yourself compared to watching a video of somebody else playing it... you don't understand how fun it is until you try it for yourself! 10/10 ride!

They are already building DK land in Orlando. I think I'm most hyped for that coaster than any other ride there, at least for the moment. I hope Zelda land goes to IOA where they shut down Posiden Adventure.

we might be taking my younger brother (who is very afraid of super fast coasters) to universal hollywood just for the mario world. we live in south carolina so that tells you how much he wants to go. anyways, i’m watching all the videos of the rides to make sure that if we go he will want to ride both rides. it makes me happy to see things that young kids will enjoy.

It would have been cool if Luigi brought out the portergust during twisted mansion. Poor Toad as well he was being hammered by almost everything. There were so many Easter eggs even in the waiting line it was amazing. Can’t wait to experience it for im a huge Nintendo fan!

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Efteling theme park in the Netherlands but it’s considered one of the best theme parks in Europe and in some cases even compared to Disneyland Paris. Would be cool to see you do some videos about that park and its amazing rides.

I love that place! I live very close and have been 3 times! My favorite ride would be the Python or The Baron 1898! So sad how tourist channels are like “how quaint.”and whatnot. It truly is a good park!

Compared to the Osaka version, it's very interesting that smoke is added at the end and the music when losing is different. Honestly Hollywood looks so much better

I was really hoping for a fully themed experience with out the use of AR. Although I understand it really ties everything together. I really don’t have much of a problem with it now that I’ve seen how it all incorporates with each other but I’m also a massive fan of physical sets and animatronics. That’s why my favorite parts of this are the chain chomp, the thwomp and the pihrana plant.

I think alot of people miss the point that this is far more a interactive video game than a ride, just like Nintendo and its video games. You wouldn't get that if it was a roller coaster or fast paced simulator like Transformers. I like that it goes for that to stay true to its gaming roots.

TPMVIDS i think you actually was defeated in the ride and when you were in the rainbow road scene I was watching a smoke coming out of the other car and actually i think it passed a malfunction that it toke a lights on look at the other car and I think the music of you were gonna go to the finish line was a bit weird Right?
