It prevents a lot of arguments on who gets to be who by making the selection random and fair. This also prevents which character(s) should be banned, if any. It also adds diversity. And speaking of tourneys, this tests your skill across all the characters, and not just 1 or 2 pairs. Basically it prevents the "not fair your character is op" fights.

@@marioisawesome8218 Yeah I dont understand that argument because for one, you can choose your character in normal multiplayer mode, idk why lan would make any difference. And for two, they couldve made it an option to assign characters randomly, but also couldve left you the option to pick your character as well for people who wanted that option.

How did it go?

Peur1386 Pretty differently. We began without an eighth player for the beginning half since they were running late. Also, we had somewhat of a different cast playing as well. Sometime in the upcoming weeks, phoenixmog will post it up so that you can see. The race on Saturday was a lot better that this previous one.

@@rammy_3 the thing that sucks, is you can only do lan, it's impossible to get this running over the internet with friends with the dolphin emulator.

@@rustedyoda7339 its being worked on, xlink sort of works with it already, but it runs super slow, crashes randomly, and overall isnt the best, however somebody is apparently working on a fork of dolphin to fix it so hopefully we can see that soon!

We try to! In person it can be hard getting 8 players but whenever we get an opportunity we bring the setup. I also brought my setup in the past to an internet cafe which they let me host for some customers.

No. LAN allows you to pick only the options at the Select Mode screen; Game Mode, Laps, course/order, Mirrored/Normal, and Co-op. The characters are selected at random then the kart is picked by who was chosen as the driver. If the driver's kart can't be used, it uses the passenger's. This is why certain characters become more valuable to have in LAN.

No, Which would make sense especially when you are just trying to get everything going. It would be too much of a hassle to just pick characters and people fighting over them. They locked out King Boo and Petey due to their perks of having the entire rosters special items which would change the Multiplayer Balance very easily. The argument of just being able to pick characters in Lan mode doesn't really make sense to me as you're already ( Assuming you have 12 to 16 players in a room ) using 80 to if not 90% of the roster when enabling LAN mode, 4 player mode you could easily just swap out characters after each cup cause you don't have that many people and can just use the same ( META )combo, the same thing can happen in LAN mode where you are Randomly given the best combo in the game but that's what makes it fair, is that the fact that its random and not everyone using the META even if they have the knowledge or not, plus this gives the game Diversity unlike WII where everyone just chooses Funky Kong Flame Runner 24/7. Sorry if this sounds like ranting but, I hope this gives you the idea of why picking characters would be troublesome.

The Medic everybody does good or bad depending on how used to the track they are, and the memorization of the track layout.

(almost forgot) In other words, depending on good or bad you are or whatever, sometimes P1 isn't the best player. But in any case, if there is a tie between players (for example, P1, P3, and P6 are in a 25 point tie) then P1 is placed on top, then P6 on the bottom, and P3 placed in between them.

@@bluebloodzgaming4434 I know this is almost a decade old and you most likely know by now but, this is called Port Priority. A good ex. would be when you (P1) Tie with a Bot in a GP with the same amount of points but, you (P1) are on top due to Human Player being priority over Bots. @SuperNickid. The same thing happens in many other games such as smash when you and another player Die at the same time go to Sudden Death and Tie again. The winner would be at that point of whoever dealt the most damage or Ect. I hope that clears any misunderstanding.
