Mario Lopez is switching spots with his wife this Mother's Day and getting a first hand look at what it feels like for pregnant mother's to experience labor pains. On Access Daily this week, Mario was joined by his wife, Courtney Lopez, and was hooked up to an electrical machine by Dr. Linda Sayyad from FeminoCentric Physical Therapy & Wellness to help him experience a taste of what child labor feels like. "Can I get an epidural?" Mario, who shares his three children with his wife, joked. "I'm nervous." During the process, the host experienced the first two stages of childbirth as the apparatus simulated cramping and labor pains. As he reached level 12 he conceded. "That is awful. That's awful. Wow that is awful right there," he groaned.

I was expecting him to scream for an epidural by the time the simulation was at 4 or 5. He must have a high pain tolerance. This was hysterical.

What they also should take into consideration is in addition to the labor pains, there is carrying a 6 to 10+ pound baby in your stomach and added weight (20 to 60 pounds) distributed throughout your whole body to support the pregnancy.

He did much better than most men I’ve seen doing this. my theory is…it’s either the high amount of abdominal muscle or low body fat or mental fortitude he has from being in Hollywood & fitness since teenage years.

He was such a trooper. 😂 My husband was so empathetic when I was in labor with our son. He’s had some pretty painful experiences in his life. He’s a pretty tough guy even though he does not appear to be. I’m pretty sure he could handle one of those at a pretty high number. Because when he says something hurts… he probably should be in a hospital.

@@lindyt3942 He’s not the typical “tough guy” or athletic dude by any means. He’s got a higher pain tolerance than any man I’ve met though. If I could afford it, I’d test your theory. And I’d bet that he wouldn’t even flinch at the highest setting. ETA: he’s 6 ft tall and about 165 lbs soaking wet. Like I said, he’s not the typical “tough guy.”

I did not want to be touched or talked to while I was in labor😂😂😂 My labor pain was actually bearable my whole life I suffered extreme menstrual cramping. I was labor for 48 hours. At hour 46 I was induced and that’s when I couldn’t take it, I got the epidural and then my son’s heart rate dropped and I had to have an emergency C-section Moral of the story, my pain was manageable lol but I have a high tolerance for pain #HappyMothersday

When I went in labor with my 4th child I had to drive myself to the hospital...at night...in a storm....45 minutes away....in a car with a stick shift.

Lol, 😂 I can relate as well. In my first pregnancy I didn't want to be touched or talked to and especially any of my family members talking in my room. Because while I was having contractions they were joking and laughing and so I said Everyone Get Out. To my in-laws, my mom and bestie 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴😂 but I made sure my husband stayed for the delivery😏

5:56 I had my first son with no epidural because it was a dificult labor. It took me 36 hours to give birth. My husband was with me and saw me suffer and he still asked for more kids.

Labor actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. After 5 hrs my daughter hadn’t dropped into the birth canal, it turns out the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice, preventing her from dropping. Thank God He gave me a great nurse & female Dr that helped me deliver. She is now 15 this year. 4 more years & she’ll leave me 😭😭😭.

People shouldn't talk abut epidurals or a c section as if its a benign thing. All anaesthesia and operations have risk - Obviously benefit outweights risk in many cases but still, we should stop trivialising these two interventions.

I worked through my entire pregnancy! Swollen ankles, swollen face, mood swings, crazy food cravings! Just imagine that your squeezing a cantaloupe through the circumference of a kiwi and that's just the head! That's just a pain simulation. Besides pain, it's also exhausting. After giving birth, I felt so sore like i was at the gym the day before but over exercising every inch of my body because pushing was the quite a workout. He was just 10 minutes. Women will be doing this for hours. Plus it's emotionally draining too.

Another good way to get an idea how labor feels is to squeeze tight a bag of ice for three mins. The cramping you feel in your hand and wrist is the sort of charlie horse cramping you experience when in labor. So funny how most of the men in my lamaze glass couldn't hold and squeeze for the full three mins. Lol

Honestly, my husband would do awesome going through labor. He has an extremely high tolerance for pain. Me on the other hand, not so much. Luckily, I had a C-section 😂

I had a c section an honestly I was in less pain than when I had my second naturally. I healed faster with my cs. Mine you had labored for more than 30 hours each for both kids.

@@monarich0705 I'm sorry but I had 3 c sections in less then 3 years I have a 3,2,1 year old. And was in labor early for all 3 of them born at 33 weeks, 34 weeks and 35 weeks. And was in labor for 3 weeks before I could actually have the c sections because I was having complications. But everyone's experience is going to be different
