@PerrySport You know, it's possible guys can go through a relative period of stasis, where, if you take care of yourself, things don't really change much over a few decades, at least on the surface. However, once he hits his 50's or 60's, things may begin to fall apart rather fast.

Exactly I think Dustin had issues with himself. He sign onto a character like screech and I honestly think he done a good job by it. However probably seeing other characters like zack and ac becoming heartthrobs made him jealous. I did not read his book but from interviews and the movie it's obvious screech did not see himself as a talented actor but actually as the character which was a geek. So I think it's a lesson for producers and creators of TV shows to make sure their actors know how to turn the character off once done filming so it won't become an issue in their normal life.

I don't even know why people would even find it hard to believe that Mark-Paul Gosselaar or Tiffany Amber Thiessen were massive assholes full of their own popularity as teens. I fully believe that Dustin Diamond was alienated from the other cast members, was forced to do things on camera that he really didn't want to do, and the show embarrassed him overall. He might have grown up to be what we all consider a "douchebag", but I truly feel for the guy, I really believe he was a genuinely sweet kid and that show screwed up any chance he could have had at having an enjoyable life from that point on. I think the show crushed him. The thing is, you look back at all the things that happened on Saved by the Bell.....pretty much all of the episodes should be embarrassing for all of the actors :P It was a bad show, but it sure was popular.

Something similar happened to me and ironically I’m the most adjusted and educated to come out of that experience, but I also had people in my corner . People underestimate how just being kind to someone who isn’t treated so well can do wonders for them.
