The final one (Unbeatable) is referencing a REAL old Nintendo commercial, to advertise the then brand-new Nintendo Entertainment System. "You cannot beat us", had a double meaning, as it could be referencing the difficulty of the games on the system, as well as being a message to their competitors at the time. Upon eating the mushroom Mario gained the Powers of Yoshi wich were the long tongue and the ability to devouver enemies. However the Mushroom also Warped Marios mind to be a mix of Yoshis. Causin Mario to become more animalistic and go blind. Depending on wich version you read, Mario either goes insane and starts to devouver everyone who he comes by. He enjoys tormenting others and eating their Bones are his faivorite part. Or another version makes him into a Anti Hero. Hes blind and his mind is still warped but his intentions are a mix between Yoshis and Marios. Marios Heroism and Dislike of Bowser and his Minions combined with Yoshis Loyalty and nature to eat its enemies have combined into a Humanoid animal whos loyal to its friends like Luigi, Toad, Peach, etc. But agressive towards Bowser and his minions. Devouvering them no matter if they seek to harm him or not. This mario however in all versions is refered to as Turmoil. So thats its name.

On the fountain star statue behind the castle in the game, in blurry letters it appears to say “L is real 2401”, which lead to many people to believe that luigi was an unlockable character in the game with even IGN offering a $100 bounty to prove that L is Real was real. The place the song takes place in and the interactions are from the actual animation, but instead of BF and GF, it was Waluigi and Daisy. Dictator is based on Hidden Histories Mario, where due to Mario being married to Peach and being seen as a hero, it helped him rise to a position of power and soon allowed him to become a dictator of the mushroom kingdom, where he’d show his true colors. From killing sonic after he didn’t make ends meet of helping bring down sega, to giving peach botched plastic surgery and kicking her to the curb when she wronged him, this Mario is nothing short of a remorseless monster. Fun fact: In song Alone, Mario in the painting actually has lyrics: “Luigi… where did you go, im stranded, lost and alone” Over and over.

So some story thoughts: Funny thing is, I think if BF had just done that third song, Mad Mario would've been true to his word and let him leave. GF perhaps not, but BF could have gotten help or something, from Pico or...reluctantly, her parents. Course that means we wouldn't have the rest of the mod, I just like to ponder what-ifs when it comes to mods like this with a more...different ending after all is said and done. I would like to think that if there were a 'part 2' of sorts with the story that it would be along those lines, but Pico is still alive in there, so maybe there is still a chance for them to be saved.

Content Cosmos is based around fan-made animations about Mario [Secret Histories, Power Star, Luigi's Day Off] Hellish Heights are modern-day created creepypastas [GB, MX, DJ Hallyboo, Mr L] Finally, Classified Castle is a tribute world to the Classified series on YT.

To add even more, all the characters in the Backround (and surrounding the boombox) during the non-pixel section are all memes started from vinesauce streams (e.g: bonzi buddy, the purple gorilla that originated from a desktop assistant infamous for being spyware, even Joel’s character appears under Kermit the frog) As a bonus, the song after this is based on somari, I don’t know much about it but somari is a bootleg as well, having Mario replace sonic and was probably infamous as well.

Fun fact; the "Scary" Mario and Peach are actually called "Super Horror" Mario and Peach, fespectively. They were never EXE characters, nor really characters at all. Rather they were art submissions created by a DeviantArt user from back in the day for, i believe, an art contest where theme was "good to bad/bad to good." Super Horror Mario was created first and when the event came around again they didn't submit repeat art pieces, hence the creation of Super Horror Peach Unfortunately the art ended up getting taken and used without credit or permission for all sorts of things across youtube and creepypasta spaces

All of classified castle is from a video called "SM64 Classified", its a really great watch to see when ur bored. Also in promotion where it shifts from chill to creepy, the 2nd mario in the darkness isnt actually Mario, its an AI named Stanley forced to create mario games and levels (idk why he looks like mario, ig its similar to Expunged from D&B situation.) Hes not evil, but he just wants to be put to rest because Nintendo forces him to work. (also i guess you could say that Apparition is also a part of SM64 Classified, but its mainly different)

Alone references beta Luigi, from the beta of Luigi’s mansion, where there originally was going to be a timer in the game where you had to complete the game in a set period of time. If you didn’t, you’d be locked out and Mario would forever be stuck at the mansion, and Luigi would end up looking totally depressed, and the hanging boyfriend is a reference to the fact that when you were in the attic and answering the phone lightning with strike, and due to the lighting, it would look like Luigi was hanging off the ground as if they hung themselves after not being able to save Mario.

Don't know if anyone told you this but Devil Mario is from an old Flash animation called Power Star where Boos possessed Mario to get the powerstars to help the Boos invade and take over the Mushroom Kingdom. It's actually a pretty good series of Videos.

Nourishing Blood: Grand Dad is a character based on a bootleg of the NES game The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy, which is labeled as 7 Grand Dad. Only real changes to the game are the title screen, which is referenced at the very beginning of the song, and Fred Flintstones' sprite being slightly altered to have Mario's head from Super Mario Bros 3. The bootleg was made way more well known when Vinesauce Joel played in on a stream, with his first reaction to the game being the most well known moment, which ascended Grand Dad to meme status. In the background 17:06 a bunch of characters and memes of Joel's history show up. 17:55 The art style shift mimics the look of the game 7 Grand Dad. The 2 weird versions of Mario in the back from left to right are from the following bootlegs. Super Bros. 10 Kung Fu Mari. And Super Mario 14. And on a final note, in the song itself, you may hear motifs of several meme worthy songs.
