I must confess, when I was 8 or 9 and got 'Mario's Time Machine' and 'Mario is Missing', I actually really loved those games because they made me feel smarter than my inferior friends, who were just playing meaningless _games_ - while I was learning grown up stuff.

Well, Mario is already a doctor, a fighter, a race driver, a tennis player, a golf player, a tennis judge, a boxing judge, a baker (see Yoshi's Cookie), a plumber, he might be a teacher as well.

I think Mario's game gallery was the first game where Charles Martinet voiced Mario. To this day he still provides Mario with his rather broken Italian accent and voices other characters.

My favorite Mario-related educational tool isn't a video game, but the extremely rare Mario Quiz Cards. They're a box of flash cards with multiple-choice questions on a variety of subjects, with Mario clip art modified to fit the question. The art on the cards ranges from funny (Mario chasing a Goomba carrying moonshine), to strange (Muslim Mario praying to Allah) to disturbing (Luigi reading a book about Hitler and looking upset). They're definitely worth owning if you can find a box.

Paper Mario: The Origami King had an educational moment about death where Bobby dies and Olivia was very sad when she finds out he’s not coming back. Then Mario finds Bobby’s Ghost in the mine and he tells him that he’ll still be here with him and Olivia. After that Bobby’s Ghost tells Mario to cheer Olivia up by using a paper goomba macho soldier mask. She then cheers up and they continue onwards to the yellow streamer. Sure Sesame Street did that topic about death much better in episode 1839 called Goodbye Mr Hooper but that moment from Paper Mario: The Origami King would put all of the educational Mario games to shame.
