I've been going through your videos the last couple of days watching them from where you started and this video is special to me because you showed the partnership shelter and the visitor center. Long story short my husband and I really got interested in wanting to thru hike the AT in 2017 and a series of unfortunate events that year (my brother dying and my husband needing to go to Virginia for spinal fusion) put a unknown hold on our dream. When we were in Virginia that year we stopped at the Mount Rodgers visitor center and when we saw the AT signs our hearts were so happy and sad because we didn't know what our future held. We walked down to the shelter and looked around and looked at the book, and took pictures, and it has always stayed with us as a constant reminder of how badly we hope to be able to achieve our dream of hiking the AT some day. It is the only time we've ever been able to step on the AT and it was such an amazing moment. I have been watching so much Appalachian Trail stuff and it has stirred up that drive to do it before it's too late. I'm a mom to 4 boys and they want to do it so bad, to them it's like the ultimate boy adventure lol. I really hope we can work towards attempting it in the sometime near future. long sleeve and thin: Kuiu. The peloton 97 is heaven, a thin synthetic , I have it both in black and green. (4oz? 5?) They also make a sun hoodie called Gila(50spf). I sweat like a beast uphill and on my back , and my arms don't burn w a LS. can't recommend enough!

Really, really impressed with the mileage you put in daily! When I was your age I'd walk 10 miles to work averaging 4 miles per hour. Thought that was really good, but you do about do the same and you have a big backpack and do twice the mileage I used to do! SO impressed! take care.

Iv done Solar for years and I absolutely swear by the long sleeve sun shirts for long term sun exposure. Once you’re actually sweating in them and they get a little breeze it feels like an air conditioner is blowing on you…. Only issue is I can’t imagine wearing the same one for multiply days in a row…. They get funkyyyyyy

Hey Taylor, I generally like your vids and appreciate the time you take to record them. I just got off the AT for a week to rest a knee but I have an issue with you taking items from the trail magic boxes or offerings when you have just resupplied or are just a few miles from town where you will get more snacks. A lot of people don't have your resources and could actually use these items they could literally be out of supplies and hungry. You're spending a boatload of money on hospices, hotels, and expensive headphones, that isn't a reality for a whole lot of hikers. Please be considerate and only take what you really need, not just because it's there, it could make a huge difference to someone else. Look around you and see what others are hiking with (makeshift poles and packs), other homemade items. Don't be so "pretentious" as other hikers discussing your channel at a hostel recently commented. Take only what you truly need and leave the rest.

Saucony. Hey, i was looking at those shoes too but the Paragine 12s are way different than the 11s. The toe cap and material parts are not the water resistant material at all like in the past models. They are the spongy cloth like their lower end shoes which is soft and very water absorbant, water holding. They feel like they'll stay wet for a very long time like my ON trail runners did. My ON's stayed wet for 3 days before even getting close to dry. I wish Saucony kept the same thin ripstop not-paded material on the toe and sides like the previous model. I see it as a big mistake by Saucony for trail use.

How do you go back to a hostel after hiking 19 miles away? Do you rehike the 19miles?

Excellent videos!!! I hear people say to "hike your own hike". Hiking is similar to yoga in that its your personal practice. At the same time, "competition" is not a four-letter word. We tend to compete with ourselves and other people hiking around us. I'm guessing you know where "Stella Hikes" is right now and how many miles you're doing compared to Stella. ??? Thoughts???
