Mario Super Sluggers is the last time Nintendo really tried with a Mario sports game, which is pretty sad. I bet the next Mario baseball game would have like 3 maps and 10 characters.

Another fantastic video from one of my favourite gaming content creators. A lot of this stuff are things I didn't know. Most of the JPN differences are also present in Superstar Baseball. Perfect hits being "Just Meet", Dark Bones being "Bloody Karon", and even Catherine's selection audio seem to be directly lifted. The alternate selection animations also seem to be holdovers from Superstar besides Peach who has an additional animation attached to her old Superstar animation, in addition to a complete new one. I also didn't know the community datamined trajectory RNG. It's pretty obvious someone like Petey bats better than someone like Bowser despite having a lower power stat, and its cool to see we now know why. That information's an absolute gamechanger, and can really shake up the meta as to who the real "best hitters" are.

Yeah there’s a lot of stuff that goes into hits that aren’t on the sweetspot, definitely a lot that can be found from that but I don’t think anyone has done a deep dive yet

@@PHDDude13 Yeah, that is what I am afraid of as well. It will release with barebones content, oversimplified mechanics, and new content will eventually release slowly over a few months.

I know about 20-ish of these facts. Take into consideration that I play Mario Super Sluggers somewhat often on my Wii and that I don't play competitive or with mods. It's nice to see trivia videos like these.

Have you guys seen the Bowser pickoff cheese? If he has chemistry with first (and sometimes second base), some of the runners' sliding animations are too slow and it's an instant-out even if they're not stealing. I think it's a combination of bowser's arm, quick turn, and lack of playtesting

Yes, we actually had to ban it in our tournament since it's so broken! I think you can also do it with other characters but I haven't tested it

I think Waluigi having the worst charge swing with a stat of 1 is rather strange. Because when you time it right, he has a 6 to 8 frame window to hit a home run, but a cutscene home run with him is only a 2 or 3 frame window

Now that I think about it a little more here are some other quirks about his batting: When a charge swing is not at red dot charged, it is possible to hit a cutscene home run on the very last frame before it becomes a dot - the only other characters capable of this are Bowser, Toad, and Monty Mole. When facing a tired pitcher, Waluigi’s star swing is more likely to reach the outfield when hit towards second base; normally it won’t. When Waluigi’s charge swing is maxed out it (just before the red dot disappears) is the only swing in the game that can cause a pop up to the catcher (bunts aren’t swings). When pitching to Waluigi, and his charge swing is overcharged, that is the only time he can hit a home run as a COM. But it’s a very specific time during the overcharge.

14:25 just an fyi béisbol is pronounced fairly similarly to baseball. kinda like "bayze bowl".(think how soccer is called football/ futbol and how that's pronounced). and yes, it does just mean baseball in Spanish. great video

I just tested the A and B manipulating the way your ball goes in the outfield and it didn't look like it had any correlation to which way it went. I used Pianta in Practice mode

Weird, maybe practice mode doesn't work with it. When I've tried in story mode it definitely works but it can be hard to notice without savestates.

Has anyone ever encountered Wiggler and the Toads batting charge animation glitches. Wiggler shoes teeth and the Toads have sparkly eyes and an open mouth. I can't remember if there's one for Petey as well

What does bad chemistry do?

If two players have bad chem, there’s a chance their throws to each other will be off the mark. So it’s not a huge deal but it can hurt your fielding if you aren’t careful
