I also want to add , that at 55 years old I'm attending college for an Associates degree. There is a guitar club where I am the only one with an electric guitar. The young people are nice but just strum chords. When I play Van Halen, Judas Priest, and other heavy guitar music, they really enjoy it but say they could never play like that. I encourage them, but I think this generation are looking for instant gratification. That's why autotune vocals exist. That is just my observation.

I can't believe the lack of respect Chuck Berry gets lately; kids don't understand that he was the standard for playing guitar in the fifties and sixties. If you couldn't play JOHNNY B GOODE you weren't considered a lead guitarist. Chuck Berry was the first musician to write his own songs, sing them, and accompany himself on the electric guitar. THE FIRST. And he had lots of hits. I played with him at three concerts in the seventies, to thousands of people; he was a bit of a racist, but he was a great entertainer, and it was an honor to play with the real KING OF ROCK'N'ROLL. He was a bigger influence on rock guitar's development than any other guitarist. And Mark Agnesi is an asshole, but we all knew that already.

Brad is a splitting image of an old Army buddy of mine that just recently passed away, same accent as well. However, Brad is the go to guy for the inter workings of an amp. He may not be a product suck up because he calls it the way it is. I'd rather spend a day hanging out with Brad before I considered hanging out with some gear reviewer that doesn't know jack about how the gear actually works. As for these other guys that think they are so relevant, sometimes being a part of the club isn't worth sacrificing your dignity.

a) Everything for the KZfaqrs is paid, flight, hotel and food, so it doesn’t cost you anything. b) Phil was already invited and I absolutely do not want any drama at these events. You stir up shit, so I am sorry, but I can’t have that at an event where I pay for everyone to be there. c) point B is less relevant than the fact that the channels have to have a certain format. It has to be about gear reviews. You do editorial content, and that’s fine, but I build connections between brands and channels to work together and help them get their gear on KZfaq and establish a relationship that hopefully gets us paid. You channel simply has a different idea behind it and doesn’t fit that format. So when I am trying to build a community of all of us working together it doesn’t make sense for me to fork over more than two grand to fly you out here when you are not as relevant to the brands as some other channels and when you are not trying to be a friend to everyone in the community. You are doing a great job polarizing and that is part of your brand, but that also comes with side effects. If I am wrong about any of this, please let me know and let’s talk. Dragging this into a video without talking to me first about what actually was the reason for you it being invited doesn’t really help and you very much know that! I am here if you want to talk!

Timothy Ryan I don’t think they were. I’ve seen Fender price lists front the 50s and the Precision Bass was about $20 more than a Telecaster and $30 less than a Hardtail Strat. I will admit that the Bassman Amp along with the Twin were Fender’s most expensive amps(They were the same price), and that I admit the amps, guitars, and bass were all a little pricey considering the average wage for the era. However, the original comment seems to make it out that basses were significantly more expensive and that is completely false. For what it’s worth, Fender’s prices in the 50s are compatible to the prices of the American Professional (formerly American Standard) product line today.

Jesse Mc Reynolds is still with us at 90yo , but he's about the last of the founding generation still occasionally playing . But more importantly , at the grassroots amateur level traditional bluegrass and traditional country are probably within a decade of loosing critical mass to exist as living genres . At local bluegrass jams , the average age of players is late 70's , with more than a few playing in their 90's . People under 65 get teased for their youth , and other than my daughter , I can't think of any local players younger than 49yo . Traditional Country local bar bands can for the moment have decent attendance . But out of 200-ish person turnouts , only 7 or 8 people under 70yo .

@@filianablanxart8305 I agree. I think bluegrass will unfortunately go the way of modern country where it morphs into some sort of pop banjo music. Mr. Monroe said as much the first time he saw Michael T. Coleman and his Fender bass playing with Doc. Maybe an overreaction on his part, but I for one don't want to live in a world without traditional bluegrass.

i have seen a situation where the second filter cap opens up and a working amp will suddenly stop making noise. once with a 1955 projector amp that i converted to guitar that the filter caps worked but made a bit of hum but the amp worked for a years after i extracted it from the projector. one day i turned it on and got nothing. i was getting high voltage to the plates of the power tubes but nothing on screens or preamp tube plates. swapped filter caps and it was perfect, same thing on a 1948 stromberg carlson amp/radio. i bought it, was getting nothing out and when checking voltages got high voltage only on power tube lates but nothing beyond. it was the second filter cap opened or shorted and no other b+ was anywhere but powert tube plates, again changing filter caps fixed it . so check the filter caps. and change them if they are original regardless.

When I was a kid growing up in the 1970s guitar playing was a great big mystery. A kid bought a crappy cheap guitar and amp and set about demystifiying the instrument. No tutorial vids, no mentors everything was worked out on your own and I believe this led to kids developing their own own original styles. Now days there is so much stuff around any kid can make great learning progress in a very short space of time but I think it is at the cost of individual style and originality. Most of the rock n roll greats had to all work it out for themselves and ended up with their own unique thing from that. Music had been at the same crossroads in the 70s better technical skills led to long extended virtuoso soloing taking over from the 3 minute 4 to the floor stomper. Then the Ramones came along and stripped music back to its bare bones, punk rock became the demystification and every kid could get a tune out of a half strung tennis racket. Isnt that what makes the Blues so soothing, the simplicity. I say for forget virtuosity and concentrate on simplicity and feeling. As Voltaire said "Don't let perfection be the enemy of good"

You're looking at the Casio PG380, a guitar built by Ibanez for Casio back in the late 80's, with a synth and MIDI interface built into the guitar. I've got one, and it's been my main ax for decades. Great sounding strat. Good luck finding the electronics for one, a parts guitar will most likely be your best bet. One thing that these do have issues with is the caps are of poor quality and have to be replaced before long, or the sound and MIDI go to hell on you. But they are pretty easy to replace, even though they are SMT. Big enough to get the electrolytics out and replace. I was always surprised that this guitar never caught on that well, it is a total blast to play synth sounds either alone or with guitar mixed in, and bending notes on vibes or flute is fun. The tracking was good enough on this that in pitch follow mode, it would follow your vibrato pretty well. Watch out on chords, that way, though. Keyboard mode is for that. Love that guitar.

I’m not sure I agree with Mr. Townshend’s assessment of the possibilities of the guitar having been exhausted. People who heard Allan Holdsworth back in the ‘60s said the same thing because nobody could cop any of his licks. They were the same kind of folks who hung up their guitars after hearing EVH’s Eruption, then got even more discouraged when Jennifer Batten displayed her organ-like, 8-finger technique while playing for Michael Jackson. Also, there will always be new sonic possibilities with effects. Not to beat a dead horse, but Batten took the whammy pedal to new places with her track titled Whammy Damage. Hell, even the folks who have followed Andy McKee’s percussive rhythm self-accompaniment on acoustic guitar haven’t fully explored that approach yet. And what about the Boaz One? While it isn’t exactly a total departure from the instrument, it’s a huge step in a different direction. Wait until his disciples take THAT baby to a new direction! And what about those Rainsong carbon fiber acoustics? Still basically a traditional guitar shape, but some kid with an imagination will take it somewhere the way Chapman did with the Stick. Being of an age close enough to Townsend to predict my own demise being likely within a decade of his, I don’t have the shoulders to stand upon that today’s visionary young guitarists did in order to “exhaust the possibilities of the instrument,” so I can’t really imagine what/where the next step will be, but I’m absolutely certain there will be new innovations in how the guitar will be played... probably after innovations in how its designers have come along.

You know what Brad, I honestly don't see any conflict or the point that EytschPi42 is making! First of all I get the fact that he's saying that what you do, your channels format etc doesn't fit within "His Events" parameters. Well...Strictly being impartial: I'm calling him out for bullshit! In fact, it sounds more like a personal grudge than a professional one. I've been on both sides of the musical fence for 50 years now..from playing in shitty clubs, pit orchestras doing musicals all the way to starting out from school as an engineering trainee for RCA records. Needless to say I've been around the block more than a few times and paid my dues. That being said I see nothing wrong, if fact it would be a plus, to have a knowledgeable guy, like yourself at this event. What I'm seeing here is that it's all about the money and not to benefit the musicians. Since you're a tech, a musician, and have an extensive expertise in the way things and I mean everything related to music works..You'd be an asset to his gig and, you know what, this guy doesn't deserve you. I've watched many of your video's and being a tech myself can see you know what you're doing. In other words...You couldn't BS me and I would know straight away if you tried! Well...Before I keep going and bore you to death getting to the point...Putting myself in your place, I'd tell this petty moron to just F**K off! I don't go to places where I'm not wanted! I think his comment to you was hateful, spiteful, and when he mentioned "OMG! Look what you'e going to cost me!" I had him pegged immediately. The guy is acting like a jerk and obviously , to him, it's all about the money. He admits it and shamelessly , I might add. You really don't have to take this kind of S**T from someone like this. Take a pass on this event and just chalk it up to one of those things that you really wouldn't enjoy anyway. If it's any consolation I think what you're doing is interesting and informative and like your channels a lot. Don't let some " Hands up Mr. 10%" Know it all get you down. Some people are just impossible to get along with and you can't get everyone to like you. You're good at what you do and some petty money grubbing ass can't take that away from you. -LRF Yeh..."Let's Talk" Don't hold your breath Mark Agnesi!

Wow, old rock guitarists (and other instruments as well) The last bunch of concerts I've seen: Billy Joe Shaver. Must be in his late 70s Elvin Bishop " New Riders of the Purple Sage - Dave Nelson (guitar) and Buddy Cage (pedal steel) 70s Willie Nelson waving the smoke away and he looks every bit the octogenarian. Ray Wylie Hubbard Slide guitar, finger picking, hijinx, and hilarity. Ray brings it all. Just saw Rick Wakeman Awesome show by the way 70s Going to see the 50th anniversary of the Flying Burrito Brothers (no original members apparently) They all may be old, but, you know what? These guys can still bring it. Rick Wakeman played the piano so hard and fast that my hands were sore! Elvin Bishop can still rip the blues like he did in 1974 the first time I saw him play. Though the NRPS haven't toured in a couple years they still did some wild 3 hour shows every night. right up to the a last time I saw them in 2016. Billie Joe Shaver is such a wonderful song writer and his shows are exciting and emotional. He might be the greatest country songwriter ever.

The Guitologist , Brad, what I mean is that I started as an electronics tech and evolved into designing logic circuits that drive high voltage, precision stepper motors for robotics. Your circuit knowledge is simply amazing. I do find myself fast forwarding through the nonsense in his videos, but he does know his stuff. Peace man.

I had tix to see him play in the Cruisin' Deuces tour, but he canceled the tour, and a few months later he took his own life. A loss for guitar-music fans, certainly, but a bigger loss for his young daughter. Anyway, I don't feel so bad when some musician in his seventies dies after having toured the world at least a few times, earned a gold record or two maybe, and really lived the life of a musician....but to die in your forties or fifties when you should have had decades of music-making still ahead if you is a tragedy.

Really enjoy your videos. Like how you apply logic and the power of deduction in your amp repair videos when you are trying to remedy an amp issue. Funny stuff too! Cheers

Casio worldwide headquarters is in Rockaway New Jersey. They have a customer service department right there. I don't know the phone number, but You can probably get that online.

Always enjoy your channel especially SPF. Next week you should mention the passing of Vinnie Bell. He invented the Coral Electric Sitar, and the Bellzouki (a danelectro electric 12 string). He was the guitarist on Twin Peaks, and was a NYC studio mainstay since the late '50s. He also was the first guitarist to carry around "pedals" in his case it was a homemade black box containing apparently a spring reverb, some sort of a delay (considering the era, a tape based or possibly drum based delay) he may have had a wha wha in the late '50s predating the Clyde McCoy. A great guy, and friends with Les Paul (both lived in NJ). Look him up, it'll be worth it.

@@TheGuitologist Thursday (Oct. 3rd). I met him on a studio date in the 70s, he had a guitar he made of stone, called it his "rock" guitar, and he had with him the famous black box. Very nice guy, he was very nice to me, I was a young kid getting introduced to the NY studio scene back then.
