Basically what he's saying as an investment for him. It wasnt a good deal because he knew how much money they would have to raise to make it profitable and that's a risk he wasnt willing to take. Which, when you're that rich, to me it sounds like it makes perfect sense.

More like investing in it meant you were basically gambling and hoping to hit the lottery. These two companies got lucky and good for them but as an investor that's not a good way to make money. For every Ring or Uber there are thousands more of these businesses that just tank. If you want to gamble with money and futures get into stocks, not companies
@peterparker1724
@peterparker1724 Жыл бұрын
“deluded to next to nothing.” His problem was that to raise that money they would have to sell most of the business, leaving “next to nothing” for themselves. According to this, the problem was that going through all that work just to have a tiny share of the company wasn’t worth it. The only “risk” would be the couple hundred thousand he’d have to invest at the start, which isn’t much for him.

The things that majority of people don’t focus on is the risk. Hindsight is 20/20. Today it’s easy for us as the 99% to point and laugh at Mark for missing out on billions with Uber and Ring. But he does bring up a great point. Risk is everything, it is a billion dollar idea but do you have the millions to make it real. When it comes to millions of dollars, risk is something you have to keep in mind when gambling.

This reminded me of when I started working in construction right out of high school while my friends went to college. My mom would always tell me to buy a house. I didn't want to because I eventually wanted to leave construction for something better (which I did but many years later) and I thought if I bought a house I would have to stay in construction. Dumbest thought ever....the houses I was looking at during that time would have made me a millionaire by now. Different than Mark Cuban. That's why I'm still stuck in this shitshow.

Über made me wait an hour for food before declining the order, useless

Thats the restaurant being full and/or behind in orders causing the delay. Which then makes the driver value their time like any self employed individual should and move on by removing that order from their time to get another. Uber didn't make you wait an hour...the restaurant made the driver wait an hour. People remove blame from the restaurant too much.

I dont think you understand what dillutions works. That and the fact that, would you invest in a company thats needs 400 million to be successful? Ehh kinda iffy, most would probably not take that gamble.
