@@timotheninja correct, "it's like poetry, it rhymes" Referring to the fact that the jedi had gone so far off the deep end they weren't even themselves anymore, and fell into the same pitfalls (albeit on the opposite end of the spectrum) as the Sith. Basically The Force is horseshoe theory with emotions vs wisdom, and the Jedi, who were supposed to be about balance, had gone so far down the wisdom side they became almost fearful of emotions. And thus, unbalanced, the opposite side to the same coin of the Sith.

One of my best friends is my boss. We've worked together coming on three years, trying to make our restaurant better. We drink beer and play guitar on days off. But at work we are kitchen manager-me, and sous chef- him, and the line never gets fuzzy when we're in that building. He gets frustrated when I miss something trivial and I love to call him out on doing the same thing cause I love teasing my friends. At the end of the day we're still smiling and cracking jokes with each other. I'd marry him if I liked the pito.

Mark Hamill is one of this world's greatest treasures. A genuinely good man with a passion for life and drama and yes, Star Wars that though it's been dented, has never diminished. He loves his fans, he speaks the word of a Lawful Good person and he walks the walk, as well. He is a man of honor, integrity and compassion such that I honestly can't think of anyone better suited to be a role model for a generation of people. That's why Luke Skywalker is important, because he gave a great man a mouthpiece to show us how to be our best selves, honest and kind. Long Live Luke Skywalker.

Maybe I misunderstood what you meant, but the fandom DID treat Jake Lloyd horribly. He suffered bullying in school over it. He was constantly put down and attacked over his role as Anakin. Can you imagine being a 10-year-old boy, and having the whole world telling you what a horrible actor you are? It was so horrible, when he was old enough Jake wound up taking all his memorabilia from the movies (gifts from George Lucas, cast, and crew!) out into the desert to burn them. He also dropped out of acting and at 19 was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which probably led to the high speed police chase that landed him in jail. @philippeamon7271 5 ай бұрын
Rightly? I contest that. They are flawed movies, in some ways, more so than Lucas' films. But it only goes so far, when people will love the originals in spite of their flaws. Of course, a lot of politics were thrown around in vindictive intent, surrounding the production of the sequels. Slurs like "The Force is FEMALE" and similar nonsense. And you can view that, as a poor business decision, but you'll never be able to show the actual numbers, to illustrate your point, and demonstrate the superiority of your opinion. You can only say: "This was popular in the eighties, therefore, I have no clue, what would be popular these days." It will always be a guess of an answer. Sure, from the misogynist echo-chamber, it might feel like a win, feel like Disney is being destroyed by their wokeness, losing all the money, that the angry men totally would have (NOT) given them - but from the opposite feminist perspective - it feels the opposite. Plus some bonus gratification in "sticking it to the man" - to snub someone else, a whole gender, while remaining an "anonymous"/untouchable, coward. If you had written those screenplays, I'm sure you'd feel reasonably content and confident, that your contribution was meaningful, but I can promise you, there'd be no end to the vitriol and backlash, you'd receive from "the only TRUE fans of Star Wars"! People would want to kill you, for defiling the work of the great prophet, who (they) "forced" to sacrifice "his" brain-child on the altar of more money, less headache and public derision from "fans". For "raping their childhood", as they said, their "great prophet" did with his prequel trilogy. And don't forget the power (especially money) of the internet hate-train. People will pay to get padded on the back for being in the wrong. For being upset, that Star Wars doesn't hate women, as much as their guilt and shame would like it to. Hate is big business, and this is a crowd, that will not be pleased, until they have their own private Epstein Island, and until then, have to settle for the power trip of blatant rage and hatred.

I didn’t know someone would have issues with Jake Lloyds performance. For me he is the young Anakin. How could the young Anakin have been elsewise? He is a Jedi without knowing about it but with the abilities and he has love for his mother who is raising him alone. Both motives which are important for the rest of the story and to transform into Darth Vader. And Jake plays that very realistically.

In the case of Mark not wanting to talk about matters(arguments, disagreements, etc)that happened behind the scenes, or just in his daily life, that's different. Mark Hamill is just one of the best people on the planet. And I really never understood the hate towards the prequels. Yes the dialog was clunky and the CG was a product of its time, but they told a cohesive story and didn't mess with anything in the original. In other words you could watch all 6 in order and get an overarching, complete story. Which is something you can not say of the sequels. Even if you're just watching the three of them.

I think older fans of the time were confused by the look of them at first. I mean the OT story cant be beat - but had the prequels looked similar in style and effects (but had the same expanded earlier scope and a pre empire world) I think they would have been more positively recieceved right away. If the prequels had of been made in the early 80's style with a budget appropriate to do real effects of all the things in the prequels then there wouldnt have been that disconnect at first. I was a kid so liked them anyway, but it is kind of weird when something in the same fantasy setting has such a radically different look and technology for effects.

This comment is really funny because Mark isn't defending the prequels he's calling out people getting overly outraged about a movie and claiming it destroyed their childhood

@@professorlegacysome girl who his kid knocked up claimed the son had Hamill and his wife pressure her into an abortion. It’s a lot of he said she said, and Hamill’s actual level of involvement in the issue has never really been confirmed. She also broke this story right when she was suing for child support, so take that for what it’s worth. I believe she provided emails from the wife and allegedly had texts from the son, but idk if validity was ever confirmed.

@@ChaChaGames19Gotcha. That gave me better keywords to boop with (and was a very comprehensive and thoughtful response, too). I found the information online matched exactly what you said with the same degree of credibility and questionable culpability. I believe my personal conclusion shall be that we are all awful to some degree, and that some people are simply less so (or have a better chance to see it in themselves and make corrections through their life). So I wouldn't say Hamill is a saint, but he appears by all accounts to be on the "less" sliding scale of awful, and I'll take that... Keeping in mind the old aphorism, "Never meet your heroes." Seriously, tho, thanks for the honest, polite, and objective response. A rarity in the cesspool of KZfaq comments 👍

@@ChaChaGames19then again, if it's an accident why wouldn't she get an abortion? Sure pressuring someone to do something is wrong but when it's the right thing to do you can at least suggest the option :)
