I'm 72 and I agree with you 100%. All good music is ageless. It's a soul thing. : ) I realized when I fell in love with the Beatles at 11, I'm still in love with them. Beatles fans never grow out of it, they just get older.

This song reminds me of my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never missed a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes but some times I wonder why bad thing always happen to good people..

I am from Ukraine, and MK is my favourite guitarist and singer for almost 40 years. First time I heard his song was in 1988. And it was So beautiful for me, I was very impressed, I had only 8 years. :) It was "you and your friends" and now in this difficult time for Ukraine the songs of Mark help to believe in better future. Mark Knopfler was recently interviewed and the interviewer told him he was rated as the best guitar player in the world. Mark replied ”utter nonsense” he then went on to list all the things he did wrong when playing guitar. He might be right, he is not the best technical player but boy is he musical and unique. I never tire of listening to him and I can tell it’s him playing the minute he starts. There’s nobody else who plays like him and to me he is the best.

I am listening to this CD for the 6th time in the last two days; I'm 75 and have been listening to and a fan of Mark's music for 50 of those 75 years; I cannot begin to express the excitement, joy, and appreciation your music and songs have brought to me and millions of others all around the world.I played bass in a band during high school and college, and while I am not even in the same galaxy as you where musicianship is concerned, I learned enough about playing guitar to recognize the brilliance and incredible guitar work and songwriting that have been your trademark since Dire Straits. You don't listen to a song collection like One Deep River so much as you feel it in your heart and soul, Like a fine wine, you have mellowed with age, and I pray that you will be around long enough to grace us with many more beautiful songs and masterful guitar work. God bless you and your fellow musicians for the incredible support for the teen cancer support organizations. with your Going Home tribute release. Nobody but nobody can make a guitar sing so soulfully as you can!

Hi Mark, humble french guitarist for many years (52 ...) , I am 67 now, and I d always have in my head your first Dire Straits LP. I was 20 ! and all your songs were revelations for me, Water of love (your one deep river perhaps !) , Down to the waterline, Six blade knife, Wild west end, and your Sultans of swing ! Mark Knopfler ist ein charismatischer Musiker. Er gehört zu den bedeutendsten Gitarristen, seine markante Spielweise nimmt man in jedem Song sofort wahr und erkennt “ihn“, auch wenn er noch nicht dazu gesungen hat oder sogar, wenn man den Song zum ersten Mal hört. Das ist eine besondere Gabe, abgesehen davon, dass seine Spieltechnik einzigartig ist. Seine Musik ist spannend und entspannend. Seine Alben, ob mit den Dire Straits oder solo, sind ein Genuß. Ich hoffe, dass er der Musikwelt noch lange erhalten bleibt und sie wie bisher weiterhin bereichert. 🎸❤️

I am always happy to hear more from Mark; there is nothing like a first listen. I remember that first-moment hearing "Telegraph Road," which is still my favorite song by Mark. Extended play is fantastic; he has time to tell a whole story.
