Mark is from the Shivwits Band of Paiutes located in south western Utah. He is singing a Paiute Mountain Sheep song. Gone but not forgotten and always in my heart.

My wife who was native American passed from covid in 2021. Her funeral had great bird singers who did her proud. The songs start slow and pick up pace throughout the night getting faster and faster. Its was beautiful to hear all night. If you have never been to a native american funeral its a very powerful experience.

Searching northern Paiute songs this is the only thing that comes up. Deeply saddens me how lost the native nations culture is to todays society. Such a fucked history. Our natives I’ll always have utmost respect for. RIP to the singer. His spirits in these mountains.

The language of southern and Northern paiute come from the eastern sierra mtns. And spread east. Numic migration theres books on it... 7 of 8 numic dialexts found in the owens valley. The owens valley paiute shoshone are mono or bannock or Neumah spelt numu. But newwah are also northern paiute. They (white man)split us up . The Northern paiute say Numa and Nuwa. We need to unite. Mono language is the oldest and closer to Aztec or nawah. Spell it how u want . Speaking it all the same or sounds the same. Like Nobi or Novi. Nuumanuu. E na ne a nay Harley runner. E Nuumu . The owens valley paiute shoshone speak 4 dialects in Bishoo seems to me we are a mix or had all groups in the valley. Its amazing and the PAIUTE could mean warm water people. Also called paiuudi. Or horsethief indians.. ute ,paiute , mono ,bannock . All SHOSHONE. PAIUTE IS A TYPE OF SHOSHONE. Im a schlor studying numic cultures from mexico great basin. The paiute shoshones are very warlike and some say we spread the horse. Paiute trail is spanish trail. The eastern shoshone are Numu also. Means people. Soulds like Neu-mah . But is your lips are small could sound like Nu-wah. . Just search up northern paiute than southern than bannock then mono then shoshone all trace origin to piute mtn southern ca eastern sierra mtns. Facts can be found under numic expansion, numic migration, and ethnogenisis is what its called. But root words dont lie, and oral traditions dont lie. We all come feom the 3 brothers!

I like it. I live in stolen southern Paiute land. Living as a white kid in Las Vegas I wondered about the native peoples who lived here in the Mojave, Nice to see some culture of those who used this land before me!

Pesa'yoo! I'm enrolled Walker River Paiute, from Schurz, NV. Anyone know the actual translation of this song. Southern Paiute is a bit different than Northern Paiute.

@@NuwuVisualMedia thank you so much for offering to help me! I'm actually in search...I have a great grandmother who we have no ancestral papers on she was not Raised by her family...but it has been passed down for generations that she was paiute...but I have no way to confirm that...so ultimately I was wondering if I was able to send you a picture of her somehow if its at all possible to tell by looking at her if you could let me know if she seems to have any paiute chararistics at all...I know that's a crazy request and a hard one as everyone is different but I'm just looking to get some sort of starting point on where she could have come from...any help would be amazing thank you so much ❤
