Mark Shreeve (1957-2022) was a UK space music pioneer. He used analog synthesizers and sequencers to create his own style of ambient electronica, influenced by the Berlin school of 70s Krautrock experimenters. Firemusic is considered by many to be his greatest release. It was published in Norway as a very limited edition cassette to accompany 100 copies of the fanzine Agitasjon. It was never reissued in any other form, and remains a very important space music collectible to this day.
Shreeve passed away days before we posted this video, on 31 Aug 2022, at the age of 65.

It's half way between Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream, with typical synth sounds of the 1975-1981 period. Nice.

It's done mostly with a Yamaha CS30 mono synth which has a built-in sequencer and also accounts for all the lead melody and abstract sounds work. You'll note there's hardly any chordal work on the album.

RIP Mark Shreeve. When i want to feel a -born from the 70s- electronic and cosmic atmosphere i always listen to Tangerine Dream and this album of yours.

Me and an english friend that brought me to Mark Shreeve were getting mad for it...we finally were collecting all of his work. As fans of BERLIN SCHOOL its a must. Because he found a way to play it with his own equipment! A very smart guy though. And as he could he made his own stuff based on more unique melodies that left the pure reproduction of Tangerine Dream masterworks. A little later he was founding REDSHIFT! One of the best bands of Berlin School. Its similar to the best german,french & english bands. But it has become Shreeves life project of non stop research how to advance on each album...if you listen to them all its evident that he was succeeding! A great composer & musician. And honestly,i love the TD like tracks enormously! Same like the other. If its done so charming & enlightning its unavoidable too like it. Belongs next to FSP,Keller & Schönwälder & RMI in your collection!😂😝😎✊🎉❤

Глубинная книга Владимира Пятибрата о бессмертии и бессмертных. Книга в свободном доступе в интернете. Последнее обновление 30 августа 2003. Кроме главы Семь ключей Радуги. В книге на данный момент нет ее поздних дополнений и обновлений. Автор это писал на форуме Богатырская стезя и объяснял в беседах. Можно будет тоже найти в интернете или спросить.

I was experimenting with Synths at this time. Sounds like a SEQUENTIAL Pro One doing the sequence. I had one of those & an ARP Solina String Ensemble.

Good quality audio for a cassette. Perhaps, like Island Music's releases at the time, it was a chrome tape. Ha.... anyone remember Island's 'One side what you want, one side whatever you want' for their releases that had - uniquely - the album on one side of the cassette, blank on the other?

I agree With many of the comments. IMHO 1st track sounds as inspired by Rubycon by TD; 2nd track Is strictly a variation of KS and so for the following tracks, With the exception of the last, quietly differenti. Regarding the instruments, I think the ARP 2600 was absolutely necessary. I don't have the album, but usually at the time they indicated on the back the instrumentation used..

I think i am hearing an ARP 2600 and a PPG. Instruments used by Tangerine Dream in the 80s. Any other thoughts?

Lots of stuff going on here... probably a Moog modular + sequencer, a VCS3 (or AKS) and other things that can be either moog or ARP or others (it's not always easy to distinguish them, sometimes analogue sounds are pretty much the same).

@@claudioricci431 thanks claudio! you think it is subtractive synths of that era. i suppose that makes total sense. my singlular musical quest right now is exactly TD/Schultz/Baumann etc.

@@MrStupidHead I don't think Mark could have afforded any Moog, PPG or EMS equipment at the time. I believe he started off with a Yamaha CS30 and Hohner Strings, later adding a Roland Juno 60, Sequential Pro-1 and Roland TR-808.
