this video will show you how to label and mark your scope turrets for long range elevation dialing--particular to scopes which do not allow turrets to be re-set to "0"...

On a coin slot turret, I first set the 100 yard zero, then put an index mark on the turret at either 6 o'clock or 12 o'clock (your choice), then for your downrange zeros, you're just looking at a clock position. For instance, 200 yard zero would be at 10 o'clock... 400 yard zero may be at 6 o'clock (this assuming your index mark begins at 12:00.

Now you have me thinking. Was gonna replace my Zeiss HD5 or have kenton turrets fitted. But will test this method out to 500m on my predator .223 setup. Thanks

they make custom stickers that match you scope and ammunition. think you get 4 custom elevation stickers per order. can even make each number =100 yards

I have a scope that you need a coin to turn it. Im new to scopes and wondering if there is any better tool to use besides a nickel or screwdriver to turn it. Also it is a nikon and it has a line in it that is indented a little where the numbers are. just wondering what that is for. Is that a mark to help remember minutes of angle? I know these are dumb questions but at this tiime I cant afford a better scope.. Thanks man. Good video.

Hey great vid. I have a question..I tried to dial my scope up but it only allowed me to dial up to about 11moa. Is there a way to take the turret off and fix this or are there special rings I can buy to tilt my scope a bit upward?
@FuelTankerMan8 жыл бұрын
+Brennan Heffner you would need a 20 MOA scope base, which would add 20 MOA to that 11 MOA that you can get as of now. Burris Signature rings with the 20 MOA offset inserts would also work. Basically, you need to raise the back of the scope up a bit in order to allow more elevation adjustment upward from your 100 yard zero.

Awesome! Thanks I didn't know there was such thing

@@FuelTankerMan ,,yes...for clarity, Burris Signature "ZEE" rings.....as Burris makes Signature (model) that is not termed "ZEE" and it won't have the various MOA insert options. This is a good and solid setup, and although Burris advertises up to 20 MOA....you can actually buy 2 sets of offset rings and find a combination of inserts that will give you up to 40 MOA tilt....yoohoo. Here's a good backstory on these--> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rcmCdLtmtLLYenk.html

@@FuelTankerMan ...no problem, glad to share and to add to the knowledge base !!!..... cheers. Allow me to go further. For any new scope before I mount it....I like to twist the knob all "in" one way....and then all "out"out the other way....and count the total number of clicks it takes for the whole range. Then come back 1/2 way on the total click count. Do it for both elevation and windage. This sets the erector tube ( inside the scope) pretty much "centered" inside the scope.....this little trick allows ALL the available light transmission to come through....and then there is the least amount of "black scope ring" seen through the scope on one side or the other, ....like when you're eye isn't perfectly centered when peering through it. Then......when you zero your gun......you will see how many clicks it took. THEN....relate this to how you can achieve the same zero by using the ZEE rings and the various combinations of inserts....to yield the same result, BUT re-adjusting the scope again to get as "centered" as you can. Now you're zeroed again ( or close) and are getting the most available up and down range and light transmission. Cheers.
