My nonverbal son was watching the animations of this video with me - he doesn’t really get Mark’s commentary, but boy do Mark’s reactions make him laugh! He’s sick right now, so he definitely needed the giggles. Thanks for always being a source of laughter in my house, Mark! ^_^

Chuchel feels like one of those kids’ shows with short, bumper-esque episodes to hold kids attention between episodes of other shows that come on PBS kids, especially at night. As a little kid you liked it but you were also a bit scared and confused by it, and your parents hated it but there was nothing objectively wrong with it so they let you watch it anyway because it apparently held your attention. It also feels like something that years later would become lost media and stem into creepypasta territory and also have a cult following of people who used to watch it as kids and are desperately trying to find it.

Couldn't agree more. old sesame street would include little random skits, usually with numbers and letters, but absolutely the same vibe as this game and the pbs shorts between commercials

Hey fun fact! The game was created by developers from Czech Republic and in czech, you would pronounce the game name more like "huhel" or, if you took the sound of j pronounced in spanish, then "jujel" The word chuchel in czech means like.. a cluster of dirt or hair or yarn or.. something of the sort :) Kekel on the other hand, the name of the pink mole, means in czech something really disgusting, something that would make you throw up :D

Revisiting this years later, it's still one of my faves for how offbeat and funny it is. I love how cartoony the world is; not just in physics laws, but also how well the music fits. I also love how for the first "act" everyone just has a jam session after Chuchel is gone lol

I Love , well, maybe she's from a country when homosexuality or bisexuallty is not "allowed" or something, so "girl can't love another girl". For example, I'm from Russia, and it's not legal here. Though the most of young people already think that it's okay to love whoever you want, and we just need to wait till it'll be allowed. I feel sorry for LGBT people in my country, even though I'm straight. My friend is suffering cuz he's not straight and they judge him for this, so I'm concerned about this as well :( Sorry for a long comment 😅

Happy game could connect with Chuchel, it could be that humans also exist in Chuchel’s universe, but probably far away, OR just near but stays at home because they are terrified of the creatures shown in Chuchel

I personally find this game really beautiful. It's just oozing with weird, childhood innocence, one that, as adults, we cannot channel any longer. This is something a joyful kid would create in their wildest dreams, and its incredibly fun to watch.

Came back to this (having watched it around when it first came out), and thought it looked like Happy Game- sure enough, they were both developed by Amanita Design! Well, okay, this one also appears to have been developed by RedDeerGames, but, y’know, close enough. Also, if Mark said in the Happy Game Video “this was made by the same people who made Chuchel” and I just forgot, boy am I gonna look dumb! But, oh well, it’s a risk I’m willing to take

For anyone interested "chuchel" is actually pronunced differently in the country it has come from, the Czech Republic. The pronunciation of the "chu" syllable is closer to the Spanish "ju" (as in jugar) and the "che" is like Spanish "ge" (as in Jorge). The sound of the proper pronunciation is really close to how you sound when choking on popcorn 😃. Try to put in Google translate. Chuchel in Czech means a ball of string, hair or dust. Other (more often used) synonyms are "chumel" or "chumáč".

THis game is basically a Saturday morning cartoon. The main character sometimes win, sometimes lose. It always have a middle short episode that ended with the title. All of them are connected but not really connected. I feel like a child again. And I feel like this game was supposed to be played with your child in exchange for cartoons.
