*based upon circumstantial evidence of their dialogue I have concluded that it was, in fact, the son who talked her into doing this action by assuring her that he would steer the wheel while she did it. However I believe he concentrated too much on recording and didn't notice the car in front of them so he was unable to warn her to push the brake in time. Therefore, if my theory is correct, he was the one who is most guilty for the accident.*

As the driver you are fully responsible for the safety of your passengers and those on the road regardless of situation except for when you have no choice. You want to be distracted and use VR while driving? Then don't bitch about getting into an accident because you didn't pay attention or trusted your passenger to help you.
