As we understand the work of toxic guilt, we will need to allow ourselves to learn about why we are so prone to becoming guilt ridden so easily. Many will jump to asking, “How do I stop getting pulled into guilt trips?” but they don’t take the time to understand the influential factors that pull us into guilt when it knocks on our door. If you are going to break free from toxic guilt, you will need to learn why you keep reacting to it when it shows up. Today I will give you ten reasons, so you can sharpen your discernment and begin walking free.

True story, I lived my life by guilt. Constantly thought God was disgusted with me. I had an experience where God showed me his love for me through his eyes and he told me there was "no more shame for you!!" He let me know we are gonna do this journey together, thick or thin, no shame. He let me know what my grace is sufficient for you means....he told me it means, "I'm everything you will ever need." He is grace, he is everything we will ever need, he is love. I'm really thankful he loves me so awesomely. I really need it.

Man, this is truly the most difficult journey I’ve endured. Toxic guilt has ruled my life and finding tools to deal with it have helped, but the urges to continue in my compulsions have been tough. I know freedom comes with consistency, but I need prayer.

It's hard because almost all preachers, churches, people say contradicting things. God loves you yet you better be a good disciple or you won't be close to him in heaven. Stuff like that. Constant double minded messages that God is disappointed with us unless we always act right. Well I don't always act right. I need love, no matter what. Thankful God showed me he loved me NO MATTER WHAT. Many of us were brought up in church and heard these bad messages that kept us in bondage. It took God himself to tell me his truth and break me out of my stupor. Grace and love are more powerful than people know.

You just put some light on something... I'm first born. Alcoholic father, dysfunctional family, divorce, both parents dead, my 2 brothers commit suicide... I think that's right, there is some guilt behind that family story...

This is soooo good. As I’m listening, how you’ve struggled and I can relate. The irony is hearing you talk about your past, you already WERE a Christian and so was I. But yet, the struggles of feeling all this from past teachings and loved ones around us walking in this. Yet, when we begin to walk out, the accusations come from those who haven’t began to see this. No mercy, no grace, just accusations that grace allows sin. But no, instead I’m learning balance and it’s def been a journey for me as well. Thank you!!!!

Honestly I have no idea what you are talking about. You write without punctuation and comas. It's confusing to try and understand what you are writing. Please try to make sense and use punctuation. This is not meant to be mean or critical. To make yourself understood please take your time when writing. Thanks and God bless you.
