Is it my fault I don't have enough money?

So , he's got a wig , BFD, THE WIG DOES'NT PLAY DRUMS OR TELL GREAT STORIES. Johnny was also a great Elvis and John Wayne collector. THEY ALL LOVED HORROR AND SCI FI. Marky's autobiography is a great read. Better than most rock and roll memoirs. Johnny comes off as pretty mean and nasty- especially towards Joey. Not to mention stealing Joey's girlfriend which broke his heart. Joey was a walking OCD nightmare. Holy shit. You gotta read it to believe how bad he had it. Dee Dee would steal anything - even from his own band mates.

+James Morris it's easy to feel sorry for Joey. The guy had oodles of mental/emotional issues not to mention physical problems when he was younger. But he was basically a good guy. Johnny, on the other hand, ruled the band with an iron fist. And being the leader, it fell to him to take care of a lot of the band logistics, something Joey and Dee weren't capable of. Johnny was a hard ass to the end, refusing to even call Joey when Joey was dying of cancer.

crazyfeline I did read that Johnny actually did approach Joey, after he found out he had cancer, and asked him how he was doing. Joey's response was like "What do you care", and that was that. Ah, well, booze is no good, Joey had a huge problem with it for years. The age was only 18 when I was in NY but I was 20 when my "had a drink with Joey" event occured, it was legal for me then. I think I caught him walking North from an apt he shared with Dee Dee at that time. It was right by CBGB but he definitely did not come out of there. I spotted him a little South of there. I always thought Marky pounded those skins like a cave man. It is overused but Dee Dee...fine line between genius and madness. THE creative force behind the Ramones. I don't think he nearly gets the credit due and often dismissed because he was high a lot. Many many band, not mentioning any names Green Day, copied or learned to play to his base riffs.

Dee Dee was a true punk rock writer. Joey was the guy who had a better sense of melody, I think.

yhn1inc Dee Dee...art imitating life. His book describes a pretty bad childhood. Joey didn't seem to have it much better. His mom describes an incident where he came home from middle school with a shoe print on his chest. Taking a sour lemon and making it a living art.

So right. I was watching R N Roll High School and it looks like he had no idea what he was playing...but it worked.

Dee Dee is definitely underrated. Their cartoon-dumb image sold him and the band short, I'm afraid.

Seriously though, I do appreciate how Marky doesn't talk shit or disparage his former bandmates. And if, in the interest of telling the truth, he must say something that could be perceived as unfavorable, he will follow it up by giving them some kind of credit and tie it into their personality flaws. Class act, Marky.

I met those guys after a show in 91. I always thought Joey was really tall, because he looked like it in the photos. He was my height exactly(6'3"). He just looked hyper-tall in the photos because the other guys were all shorter than him, plus Joey was extremely long-legged. I stood there and talked to him for several minutes, and even though we were the same height, his legs came up about level with my bellybutton.

If Joey had so many girlfriends, why was he so worried about the KKK (Johnny) taking his (one in particular) baby away? Then again, if Johnny had so many, why did he have to steal one of Joey's?
