Yeah, those heel tabs are brutal on your heels if you're not wearing the proper socks. Jordan definitely put himself through the wringer playing ball in them

you folks always forget that Jordan retros weren't really meant to be worn for playing. They're now strictly lifestyle shoes. The true OG models were the ones that Jordan played in.

when 4's first started retroing in the 90's. I used to hoop in the cement white pair. Never had a problem. But we used to hoop in af1's too. Guys were different back then I guess

I currently play in college and I honestly still play in some old-school models I feel like some of the ball shoes now are dangerously light. I'm more of a mid top guy.

Actually it's the shoes, not the testers. Nike uses different, stiffer PU for retro midsole on jordans rn than they did back then. The shoes were legitimately better leather and better PU midsoles back then. Wish I could have been there and into shoes at the time and felt og fresh PU jordans but time is a vicious mistress

One of my top 5 favs but strictly for fashion. If you wanna ball, work, or just chill try the Jordan 6. That is absolutely the most comfortable & durable Jordan shoe period & are also one of my top 5 favs.

That rear tab digging in didn't happen on the originals because they had slightly higher collar and the original materials were much softer and made the shoe way more comfortable...retros are just not made to play in

I freaking LOVE this colorway!! I need to get these asap!! Long Story short, I just turned 46 and have been a serious hooper since middle school lol, my point is, I've always mainly wore J's to hoop in, (The Retros) and I've never thought J's are that great to play in... Yet I still wear them lol.. But I grew up in the Jordan Era and he's still my favorite player.. 🤷‍♂️

Most retros use a very hard polyurethane foam in the midsole. It's meant to keep its shape without the creasing lines you see on softer midsoles that are actually comfortable. This is what happens when fashion concerns overtake function.

mj used to play in converses in college and said he prefers flat footed shoes, hence the AJ1 and AJ4 specifically, i guess the AJ3 too even though the 3s are comfortable. i love 4s and 1s but damn they’re just not good basketball shoes, were defs ahead of their time in the 80s tho
