Written by Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard. Arranged by Charles Stepney.
Hailing from New Rochelle, New York, Marlena Shaw’s recording career got underway when she was performing at a club in Chicago and came to attention of Chess Records. She cut two albums for Chess’ subsidiary label, Cadet, “Out Of Different Bags” and “The Spice Of Life”. On 45, she cut some uptown New York songs such as Goffin-King’s “Go Away Little Boy”, Mann-Weil’s “Looking Through The Eyes Of Love” and Bacharach-Hilliard’s “Waiting For Charlie to Come Home”, which had previously been recorded by Etta James and Jayne Morgan.
Marlena moved on to Blue Note and then to Columbia. She had hit albums on both labels in the 70s.
