It was the fact the boat was backing down on the fish, in rough water. Water then came over the stern and flooded the deck almost instantly. The fish did not pull the boat

Yep. Been trolling in Hawaii forever and caught a few Marlin (which nobody wants), and a 600 pounder leaped over the transom and about speared us. But it didn’t affect the boat any. And no way a Marlin on a line in the water can pull a boat over with the drag on the reel. Even a locked drag, the Marlin would break the line or tear out the hook. Nope, the “Captain” backed down and swamped the boat. Very easy to do if you’re a bad seaman in rough water.

@peterdarr383 yes they are but they still can go down I've seen several sportfish boats like that one sink sometimes when that much water comes in the scuppers are overwhelmed and it backs up into the cabin and overloads the bilges and the boat sinks

@@robbubba8020 Then the boat doesn't have enough foam. There's a Coast Guard regulation that the boats need to float. It's not Rocket Science !!

I'd say the marlin is jumping out of the water away from what's pulling the boat back down - that and the drag on that line is set a bit tight.

لا يمكن للمارلين ان تغرق القارب ولو انها جرت القارب قوة الخيط لايمكن لها تغرق القارب قد ينقطع الخيط القبطان هو من اغرق القارب ربما عاد الى الوراء بسرعة وارتطم بالموج نظرا لعرض مؤخرة السفينة فغمرها بالمياه .
