If you’re making a walking bait, I would consider the Blue Dragon Sea Slug. They are beautiful little creatures. And you could even make the back appendages injected so that they wouldn’t get in the way

A common mistake with top water baits is setting the hook when you see the water explode around your bait, I was always told to wait until you feel the fish at that works much better than setting the hook prematurely . The other reason not to do that is setting the hook and have the bait come flying back right at you often resulting in a treble hook hooking you . Great video great bait.

I would say this is an extremely official bait on the grounds that not only were there a lot of fish, caught along with a lot of hits, but this is I believe one of your first baits to ever have multiple strikes on single casts. There were several times in the video where you would cast reel in and the beat would be hit 3 to 4times before it was fully reeled back in for the next cast. Awesome bait

I will say again, the best videos are the ones where the bait is a new idea so no one knows if the action will be good or bad. However when the action is good, it just makes the video even better!!

Jointed.. soft plastic swim bait. Have an inner skeleton for line ties, hooks, joints, etc. Maybe some type of screw lock weight system to adjust the fall. That's be pretty epic.

The voice over in the beginning definitely has some home movie vibes. Like when that crazy aunt comes back from abroad and forced you sit down and watch he videos while she tells ya everything. (Think early 80's)

Just busted out the crawler the other day. Spotted a New Jersey giant the other day. Caught a 4.32lb and this bass made it look like a dink. It’s gotta be atleast 9lbs and it’s my new goal for the year

Hey, Nate, I've noticed as you have, that the fish are striking the front of the bait, where the wings are going to interfere with the fish's ability to quickly grab onto the bait, I think it would help if there was a slightly larger hook, or a hook with a longer shank, to allow the fish to get the hook farther down its gullet. I think that would increase your hookup ratio.

Heddon torpedoes use a longer shank trebble hook too. I have similar poor hookups with them.

Hey Nate, I make winged crawlers for our Aussie Murray Cod and find that adding extra split rings on the rear trebles helps with the hook up rate. I have even added 33mm fasttach clips to the rear to get the hooks deeper in the water. Beautiful lure BTW!

I'm pretty sure I've watched all of your videos, possibly more than once and I love all your work, but I think for some reason...this is my favorite bait you've made so far. Even with the hook up ratio, the amount of times the fish were willing to stick with the bait and keep swiping at it was impressive! Fine job my friend!

I have a bunch of hand me down tackle boxes from over the years and inside of a few of them are some old crazy crawlers. Those are the only 'winged' lures I have ever seen.

Those creeper arms can take a lot of tuning, you can get a ton more action out of them by further curling the top half the wings and straightening out the bottom. Also playing with the little wing that stops them deciding how far they can pivot.

Short strikes on top water baits are the norm though that's why folks put "stinger" hooks on buzz baits also with those wings it may be blocking some of the strikes so I would say that your bait did really well you proved your concept extremely well and I would purchase it in a store based on this video alone.
