"I'm not racist" hits the good and bad of both sides. Gang shit is very biased on one side. He makes a good connection with perceiving all groups as gangs but I'm not sure this helps with race relations in any way like what Joyner Lucas was able to do.

When I was younger attending a school for young people trying to get their life back on track I came across a tall (6’7”) black 17 year old kid playing basketball. We worked out playing ball for around a month Or more but outside the court he was sketchy about being around me. Eventually I questioned him about that. His response literally shocked me. He was taught from a child that White people only friend black people if they can use them for something. In his mind there was always a shady motive awaiting discovery behind a kind smile from a white person. One of the last conversations we had before he left the school was him telling me I gave him some hope. He experienced something he was told wouldn’t be possible. Sports & music truly are bridges we should never take for granted.

We can all surprise each other if given the chance. I don't fault your friend, his family, or anyone else for having suspicions and views like that. Unfortunately, it is what it is and no doubt those views were based on personal and cultural experiences. I'd never seek to ignore or invalidate that. I also hope that people can discover how similar, different, and truly awesome we can be if we can get along and learn from each other. History and circumstance has brought us to this point. We can make change. If not in the minds of everyone than in the minds of many who are curious, open, and brave. The fear and misunderstanding is symptomatic of what has been and continues to go on. I hope for peace, love, and justice.

That's awesome wish there were more people who could show that color means nothing just like the way someone looks it's not smart people like that are narrow minded just crazy that people are bullied even @ a supposed adult level. I'm a white guy that lived in a crappie place poverty wise ect and I've been treated the same as friends of other races by authorities and I see craziness a lot we as people need to band together and like @Stevie said do the right thing wrong is wrong.

Just goes to show that even though we may not agree with what others think or there point of views, we should always remember that those point of views were taught and they came from somewhere. Eveyone has a chance to change.

Marlon talked a little about it in an interview where he said they pulled up and had the Klan robes for the second scene and he and the dude looked at each other like, "Is this right? Is this a good idea?" Reminds me of Joyner Lucas - I'm Not Racist. I hope that heavy white dude didn't catch any flack on the streets.

I studied drama in college and in one production was cast in the roll of an alcoholic racist.. even at one point in the production had to use the N-word in reference to and while looking directly in the eyes of a very good friend of mine who is a black man. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but be sure that he and I sat down and had a real conversation before ever stepping on that stage.
@brent7900

A huge point in that message by the imaging of showing the family’s. Was to illustrate the differences of each family. And how the institutions have created a high incarceration rate for black men. Creating the absence of the father in many black families compared to the other two characters (the cop&the kkk guy) that shows them going home and eating with their families at the end of the day . That was very powerful messaging to have been added to the song with visuals in addition to the words in which those things go hand and hand.

Great review man. I love how after the first 30 seconds of the song you explain a perspective on the struggles to move from religion/being born into whatever circumstances and seeing things differently, which is what this song ends up speaking on. Pretty much predicted the message of the song. I just hope that one day everyone will see eye to eye and move forward together, now is the time to teach each other and our children a better, more equal future for everyone. Much love from Australia man keep em coming

Ok, as much as I realize that this may throw some controversy my way, Im going to say it. What happened in Minneapolis was atrocious. Disgraceful and hated by the majority of the police. Yes....Including me. Im a Cop in a violent, crime riddled city in Southern Virginia. BUT....Stevie Knight IS correct. A lot of peoples views, peoples, not cops are based off the way they were raised. I grew up in PG County Maryland, Laurel to be exact. My Dad was a Federal Police Officer. In 10th grade I was used as a punching bag and was the target of a gang initiation. But you know what? I still love. Even now, I love. Where I work, I have actually been given a LOT of respect by legitimate gang members because I treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect. Until they do something for me to take that. And I do that with everyone, black, white, latino...makes no difference. You know why? Because my parents taught me to be a human. Please, understand, not ALL Cops are racist. Theres thousands just like me, who see people as people and always tend try and help rather than worsen the situation for an individual, a group or a race. Thank you Stevie for never holding back your views or thoughts.

Thanks for putting me on Marlon Craft, the guy is a monster. There’s a song gang gang by Cadet and it’s an UK outlook on the police being a gang. Also I want to help you on that website, you pay monthly to. Listen to you pretty much every day and I want to give something back.
