Thank you Marly! With your video, I completed my first sock! (And conquered my fear of double pointed needles.) Your tips and tricks are so helpful. I am a young person who truly sees the value in handicrafts of yesteryear and how tragic that some do not see the importance of passing these skills on- I made my first socks for my eldest daughter who is six, and she is already casting on and knitting on her own! Without older family and friends to teach these crafts, folks have turned to KZfaq and Marly Bird! I am grateful to have the guidance of your easy to follow videos-My daughter says, "She is such a nice lady!" Thank you Marly, for helping to train up another generation of handicrafters!

I came super late to the party and just finished Sock #1 for my husband out of Fisherman's Knit Wool. Definitely not the easiest yarn for a beginning knitter (I am a crochet gal), but I am so happy how they turned out and they actually fit my husband perfectly with his size 14 feet! Now to finish the foot and toe on Sock #2! I am so happy you suggested to work on both socks simultaneously as I seriously didn't want to be one of those "one sock wonders"! Thank you for the excellent teaching!

CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH! Yeah Red Heart Yarn!!!!!! I made a red sock with green heel and toe and a red sock with green heel and toe and they are fab!. Its August! and they were supposed to be done by (last) Xmas, but you were ALWAYS there for me when I could carve out the time slot! That was the BEST!!! A potty break and a cuppa!!!! and CONCENTRATION AT ANY HOUR!

My saving grace for knitting the decrease rounds for the toe section, was to place removable stitch markers at each decrease point (last three stitches of needle one, beginning three stitches of needle two, last three stitches of needle three, and first three stitches of needle four), for a total of four markers. I’ve been knitting your pattern on two sets of dpns so that both socks will be finished at the same time. Thank you so much for your detailed pattern instructions! 🌸

Oh, just to clarify, I place my stitch markers a row or two UNDER the stitches at the decrease point, just so that I can keep track of where I am to decrease. 😃

What an adventure! Thank you Marly! As you mentioned throughout the series - it didn't happen the first time or third or 33rd! I really appreciate that you show us the stitch construction. Love the opening music too. Thank you so much! I am soo happy to have finished my first sock. I can't wait to knit a mate for it. I am so new to knitting, the whole reason I wanted to learn was to knit socks, and you taught me so much in a way that even I could understand. I would definitely recommend everyone trying to knit their first sock to watch your videos. I was failing miserably until I found your videos now I am excited to watch more of your videos and learn how to knit more things. I also feel like I learned enough to try to customize my sock even more in the future. Thanks again. Finally someone who knits like a pro but remembers what it's like to be a beginner.

All the way to the end, could not have done it without you Marly and the KAL 6 part series, each video was very well presented, each explained and demonstrated along the way, with invaluable tips. I love knitting with DPN’s, (truth be told, I’ve never knitted anything before this), nope did not know what DPN’s were until I decided I was going to try my hand at knitting socks. (I hope this series is a forever link) Keep doing what you do Marly, Blessings to you and yours. And Thank You, my second sock is almost complete, and in far less time than it took me to complete the first.

Marly, Marly, Marly. I feel like I have been playing with yarn all my life to get to this point. I learned to knit initially when I was 9, taught by mother. She also taught me to crochet, which I liked better. I have been in other groups and have learned a lot. But being a Marly Minion has taught me so much at the age of 60 that I feel that I have reached my goal, knitting a pair of SOCKS!. I may not be an experienced knitter, but I am now an experienced crocheter and I am a knitter. I'm not comfortable with fixing mistakes, but I can attempt fixing before frogging. Thank you!Thank you!

I want to say how much I have appreciated this video presentation. I actually knitted my elderly mom a bootie/sock with thrums and when I got to the heel part of the pattern, i was unable to figure it out. Please read I'am a senior on a fixed income so could`nt afford the yarn you used, so I just used red heart super saver small skein. Then I only had 4 size 5 dbl points so for the first pair I used 4 size 5 qnd 1 size 6 they look great. Then I loved them so much my second pair I did 4 size 5 bp an 1 size 2 lol and the turned out even better. That just tells you how great your pattern is cause I am a designer sweater knitter swore I`' never make socks or gloves but I love this.Cant wait to save up enough to make them with the right needles and yarn.. Hooray! Million Thank You's Marly!💟 Great tutorial, easy to understand and you are so up beat!🤗 Loved it...I had fun doing this and with the DPNs. Hint: when doing the toe I used stich markers on each side to remind me here is the place to decrease.☺

Am working on my second toe right now. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I knit socks, but almost exclusively toe up. Wanted to try this for fun. Your method of casting on is what helped me the most. Even though my first sock is wonky, the second looks darn good. I shall use them for bed socks and try another pair now that I know I need to use smaller DPNs.

THANK YOU SOO MUCH MARLY. I WISH I COULD GIVE YOU A BIG HUG. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER USING A DPNS AND MY FIRST TIME KNOTTING A SOCK IN THE ROUND. IM SOO PROUD OF MYSELF FOR FINISHING THE SOCKS. AND I FOUND OUT THAT I DONT HAVE 2ND SOCK SYNDROME BECAUSE MAKING THESE SOCKS WAS A VERY EXCITING THING. THANK YOU SOO MUCH ONCE AGAIN

Marly, Thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking about knitting socks for several years but have been intimidated by the whole process. Thanks to your instruction and encouragement I've just finished my first pair! I never thought using dpns would be manageable. After 2 socks I'm very comfortable with them. On to more socks for me.

AND...I have just finished not my first sock...but >I< think my best EVER sock! And, by golly, it fits! This is about the time I usually say, "Meh, I guess it's ok."...and it becomes "The Lone Sock". I actually just cleaned out my UFO box and threw away several Lone Socks. NEVER FEAR, Marly is here! Now, I will never knit another Lone Sock again! My 13 yr old grandson now wants me to knit him some socks! Imagine that! I hearby make a motion to not call these "My First Socks" but "Marly Socks". By the way, I can't get out of here without saying a couple more things. Marly...has anyone told you that you are absolutely beautiful, M'am? I just love to watch you. I also love your voice and you have a wonderful sense of humor. Now that I've gone through my first 6 videos with you...I almost feel like we're friends. Thank you for being who you are and doing what you do! We sure do appreciate the time and effort with which you serve us. Blessings to you, Marly!
