One of the best pieces of advice I heard a pastor give couples in premarital counseling was, if each of you always puts the needs of your spouse first, your own needs will always be met.

My husband and I have been married 48 years... I agree with everything you said, but we learned through trial and error... I really appreciate your wonderful testimony and steadfastness in your marriage. You are such a blessing. The internet is full of meaningless nothings, and bad advice, but your godly example is a shining light. Keep up the good work! We need more like you.... I love you both dearly.

I am in awe of you both for setting a decent standard. I grew up in single parent family tarnished by alcoholism. I didn’t really have good role models, my grandparents were alcoholics too. I always wanted a stable home life, the solid family unit. I knew what I was looking for but have never found it. Here in Scotland life seems to revolve round bars and pubs. I didn’t want to have to haul my partner out the bar when I wanted to see him. I am hardworking and decent yet find myself on my own at 53, but I take real pleasure in watching your videos and seeing a nice life. Bless you.

My husband and I have been married since we were just 17 and 18, just over 30 years ago now. We used to read the Five Love Languages, and many books on relationships together, and they were a great help to us! We also squeeze our hands together three times to "secretly" say "I love you"! We also do this with our children!

You guys are so much fun! I literally enjoyed this! My husband and I had a very rough start on our marriage we were not saved, we came into the marriage with LOTS OF BAGGAGE! We both got saved within our first two years, but things got more chaotic raising 4 kids and family struggles, soon after we became empty nesters and some health issues happened to both of us, that’s when God began a HUGE healing in us (I guess He had our undivided attention) we will be celebrating our 37th anniversary this April and I couldn’t be more in love with my wonderful husband, I’m so glad that divorce was not an option!

A wonderful video! We have been married 53 years in July. Married real young you know!(ha ha)Having said that it seems like only yesterday as the time has passed so quickly. We have two wonderful grown sons who mean the world to us. They are both fine young men. That is where a favorite saying of mine comes in. Children learn what they live and then they live what they have learned! In our earlier years of marriage we had some things to learn and I believe that all couples do. You come from different families and backgrounds and it takes love and effort to create a lasting enduring marriage and anything worthwhile is worth working on! These videos are so needed today in this time of such uncertainty. Things are not what life is all about. I always told my boys it was alright to have things if one has them for the right reason. Not to make others jealous or even because someone else has them (ie keeping up with the others) , but to enrich your life and to share with others! Good friends and family are much more important. I am thinking and hoping and praying that this lastest pandemic has sent this message home more clearly to many people. Sorry for going on so about this, but I feel so passionately and strongly about this. My best to you and your lovely family and may God's grace be with you! 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I watched Your whole video tonight and enjoyed it. I was 15 and he was 18 when we married. I only my parents as examples for what a marriage should be like. They had a wonderful relationship. No jealousy and only two disagreements that I ever knew about but was only for hours not days. No jealousy between them. My husband was bad with jealousy. Not a good thing to live with. We never had fights and our children rarely if any time knew we were angry because he just didn't talk to me and I didn't argue with him. Jealousy is as cruel as the grave just as the Bible says. Anger is a bad one too. We were married almost 23 years when he dies from a logging accident. That movie Fireproof is very good. Didn't have that when I was married. I enjoy you both and your children. It's so nice to see a family so loving with each other. Lord bless you all and your other family members on both sides. Very wonderful.

What wonderful advice, I will remember this show Priscilla, the two of you for 15 years? wow, you both still act like it's your first year of marriage. It's a long story for me and I'm still single at 67 years of age for me, I think it was fear of being hurt, my family was very dysfunctional and my father died six months before I was born and my mother remarried but he did not like us, kids, and he abused our mother and us. It was hard for my older brother and sister which had their issues/problems due to Dad's death. Mother and I were very close and I was hurt many times over the years not by my mother but by others I had trusted too much so I never let anyone get close to me again as I said out of fear of being hurt, the pain. I love Montana Haven because of the Love I see between you and your hubby and the children, if God were to give me 2nd chance I would pray we could have the strong love you both share at Montana Haven, you share a life I never had and only could dream of. God bless you both and the children and thank you again for what you give us at Montana Haven.

You know how people say that old couples look alike? resemble one another? You are such a couple. Your thoughts and spirits are so much in sync conversing. Isn't that a wonderful blessing? You have the same smile. It's my favorite part of being married for so long, 35yrs. I wish all my friends enjoyed that. If he was gone, 1/2 of 'me' would be gone and I accept I could never be the same. His happiness is my happiness. He's been in my life longer than I was ever living before. Wow. We enjoy our coffee dates and we take our coffee (I make him guess the coffee beans only by tasting it first because he loves the coffee and tries really hard to know them. funny) in our own thermos' to the park (we visit many local ones) and just crack the windows and listen to the birds or watch the rain for hours and hold hands and talk and it's our favorite. It's cold here, but sometimes we walk too if we both remember our right shoes! Understanding the love languages and personality types are ways of Honoring what God's created in us. Recognizing what's special. Be Blessed. And you're right about the minor or lesser traits coming to the forefront later in life. You're right.

My husband and I were both never married. Met when I was 34 and he was 41. We married in May of 92. It was a very funny when I first met my husband. We met at a Christian dance. The night I went to that dance. I told a good friend of mine that if I was going to be single the rest of my life. I was going to enjoy it and not worry about not getting married. Low and behold that is the night I met my Del. We didn't date right at first but it came in the next couple of months. It will be 29 years this May. We've had our ups & downs but, we both agree to work together and trust God.

Your advice and thoughts are beautiful. My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years. Our kids just moved out. We get to have more spontaneous dates now. A couple years ago, for Christmas, I made my husband a box of dates. They are cards inside envelopes, the outside has indicators of indoor/outdoor, level of energy required (I have a genetic condition that causes a lot of issues), and cost. What’s inside is the surprise. It’s a fun way to be spontaneous. We’ve had a lot of fun with them. Some of the ideas were from the kids and are things we would have not thought of on our own, but have been the best dates.

I like how you laugh and enjoy each other and your children. Joas it was no surprise that word of affirmation are part of your love language because you do that all of the time to your children, your animals and your wife. I live the loving twinkle you have in your eyes. You take great pleasure in life together as a couple and as a family. I am a widow for 35 years and my children are all in their 40s, two of them live far from me. I love being a part of your family but helps me not feel so alone. I was so interested to hear your thoughts on marriage. Your thoughts about the need to really get to know each other and to communicate honestly and kindly resonate with me. Sadly I never found anyone who shared this idea so at 65 and in poor health I have come to terms with the fact that a happy marriage is not in the devine plan for my life. Never the less I am hugely grateful for the people and so many other blessings in my life. Hey Joas and Priscilla we did make it to the end of the video ha ha Ha When you first got together I always thought an disagreement comes in like if you don’t understanding which I think is a little of that as well but I have realized that it seems like there’s still something missing and I think it could very well have to do with the personality. At first when we got married I thought if we make sure we will understand each other we should not have disagreements or get upset at each other but no it is more to then that. I could tell when we were there how great of a couple you are you were very secure with each other!!

Marcelle and I have been married for 41 years. We certainly agree with the many things you said about marriage. We are blessed with four grown kids and six grandchildren. Also thank you for mentioning and praying for Marcelle's twin sister Marcia who lost her spouse almost 10 years ago. The Lord has been faithful to watch over her during this time.

Yes if we do kiss each other every night before we go to sleep and then in the morning before we get up we also kiss each other. My love language is quality time and Moses is physical touch.

Thank you for sharing. When Christ is in the center of your marriage, He grows you to become one in faith, friendship and love. So evident He has been growing you. Lessons you have learned my precious husband and I have also learned, especially in love languages, conflict styles and personalities. Closing each night with prayer and kiss is our tradition also...our favorite time. Love to hear you laugh....must have laughter and joy in your relationship. Blessings to you and your family. This is one of your best videos.

I have made it to the end. I didn’t know any of the book you mentioned. So thank you for sharing. I find the love language book especially interesting. The Only book that I read that really helped before marriage was “men are from mars and women are from Venus.”
