have been in the USA since 2016. I left my ex ( we were Not married but we had 2 kids that are us citizen) . I left him due to domestic violence. I was in DV shelters for over a year. Had to face him in trial. I filed a U Visa in 2017. I am still waiting. In 2019 I got married to a US citizen and upon trying to go the marriage route for my green card we were told the law has changed and that because I overstayed in 2016 I triggered a 20 yrs ban. I am a Canadian citizen but I am awaiting my u visa determination still and won't know till end of next year or 2022. Do you know if the laws have changed with marriage and people like me who overstayed??? I don't want to get deported. I have never been deported and entered the us legally. Thank you
