This song hits home. I did three tours overseas. I was hit with an IED and I was the .50 cal gunner and was blown out of the back of the vehicle. And the vehicle I was in the driver and TC (passenger) both passed away. Also had a man unload a 30 round clip in my direction and my weapon jammed and I could hear the bullets fly by and was never hit once and thankfully I fixed the jam as he reloaded. I grew up Southern Baptist and once I was older thought I was too cool for God in my life after having to be in church every time the doors were open. As I got older and had two beautiful kids it’s occurred to me that this wasn’t by accident and God had plans for me and I wasn’t meant to go yet. I’m thankful for the opportunity God has given me and I do what I can to remember the brothers I lost and to remember them and their families and to visit their families and tell them about the good men they were.

Toby keith, may he rest in peace, loved his country and was a huge true patriot and he has many patriotic songs. Hes done hundreds of shows for our troops. Toby debuted in the early to mid 90s and sang til his death last month. Im shocked nobody has requested any toby.

This old vet sends his love and salutes all my brother and sister veterans. Sending prayers to the families of those who didn't make it back and for the ones who made it back, yet are still fighting the bigger silent battle within. Love your guy's reactions and yes I'm still hanging in there. Not a lot has changed, but I don't require a lot. I have God, so rest can come and go like the days until his blessing says different.

Not just vets. Video is packed with a lot from soldiers, to firefighters, emergency response, teachers trying to protect kids during school shooting, to police. One song that hits home for me is Nickel back “Far away”. Song similar to this one. Being a wild land fire fighter.

I liked your talk on freewill. The reason God allows sin to exist is freewill! If he destroyed sin instantly when it shown itself, you would have only one choice, there would be no reason for freewill ! Just an old vets thoughts.

The closest rap or hip hop would be Tom MacDonald "America" , now he has hit in several of his songs the issue of the treatment of vets and have donated over 250k to veterans homeless programs. Which really hits home for me sense i exist under one. Love to HOG! But yeah you're not going to fine very much patriotism in most rap and if any it will be by independent artist because the labels wouldn't back it. Its not the narrative.
