Storyteller Part 6 - this update's got everything, from new puzzles to devil puzzles to achievement stamps. This update definitely rounds out the game well, but as always, I'm looking forward to more! I can't wait to see what the next update holds.

13:30 Actually, that IS the roman numeral for four. The romans used it on clocks, because "IV" looked like Jupiter (one of their gods) fell over and they thought using IV on clocks would cause misfortune.

@@NoNameAtAll2 A Latin way to write Jupiter would be Iupiter, and old Latin did not have a distinction between U and V as letters, so it would've been spelt Ivpiter (pronounced with a 'U' still). So IV looks like the beginning of the name, IVPITER, or Jupiter.

I don’t think that’s the reason, they used IIII because subtractive notation wasn’t as widely used by the Romans as it is now. Nowadays we teach Roman numerals following the rules established in the Middle Ages, before that there were multiple ways of representing the same number, and many numbers that could be represented the same way. The number 8 was often written as IIX, and the eighteenth legion often wrote their number as XIIX. The twenty-second legion often wrote their number as IIXX, which one stonecutter thought meant eighteen, and then helpfully corrected it to XVIII. Also, they didn’t use IV on clocks because they didn’t have clocks.

Multi solution puzzles and the achievements are so interesting, but I bet it can be hard to design good puzzles like that for this game. Hopefully they have some good idea as because I love it

There aren't actually that many combinations of elements; they probably have a sheet with each combination outlined to see what they've done before and what they can do now. If you take each panel as a simple equation, you could use a dimensional solver to automate finding certain states and get all the possible elements needed. Then make some levels with restricted elements available, and you've got basically an exploration game for simple logic. Of course, each story and goal will be checked manually, and you need to decide what the combinations do and make them interesting, so they probably start with a complete story with a fun twist, then take it apart and explore what other combinations might do.

Fun fact about the Roman numeral for "four": on old clock faces it's indeed sometimes written as "IIII" instead of "IV" because Kind Charles V was superstitious and thought that subtracting I from V would bring bad luck to his reign.

I’m pretty sure the final panel at 10:06 is a reference to a very amazing puzzle game called Braid, which has a broken hourglass and a castle made with the sand leaking out as a piece of art associated with the game. Braid is really good, even today, and was made by the same person that made The Witness, and also marked the beginning of the indie gaming explosion!

I actually wonder if storyteller will add a custom mode where you can make your own stories. You can add any amount of panels, you can create any story you want, and you have access to all the characters and themes!

18:58 I think these panels should be called scenes rather than frames, since I just imagined there being a multi-frame animation where they both give their explanations for rejection, then react, and all that is supposed to happen in the same scene cuz u got achievement immediately. if it’s smth like the famous green-eyed logic puzzle, having to take multiple days to gather enough information judging others’ reactions to come to the realization is fair I guess

True story (pun intended) this is part of the battery of test given for autism diagnosis that I failed so very hard. It's very fun watching it as a puzzle game so I don't feel so bad. I sometimes am just amazed how fast these are solved.

I hope the next storyteller update could be where you have the freedom to create your own storys since thats the name of the game. Where you have access to all the characters, location, events, and story length. Aswell as more options. Like i want to create a story where Isobel murders Lenora to feel remorse and poisons herself. And a story where the Butler kidnaps the Queen then Isobel saves her and get married while the butler got Executed. And more storys of tormenting Edgar cuz he doesn't deserve to breathe lmao.
