Fun fact. For years Tim Burton claimed that due to criticism of him killing off Jack Nicholson's Joker in his original Batman, Burton cast his friend in two different parts so he could kill him TWICE. In reality, Nicholson was eager to play multiple parts and at one time suggested Burton cast him in ALL of the parts. Burton settled upon two.

The Martians having their minds blown by the country folk song is just brutally cheesy, and it's just a beautiful way to end the invasion. _Mars Attack_ feels like a love letter to the invasion film genre that makes Ed Wood proud.

The reason they gave Brosnan a pipe was because, in the era they're portraying, scientists/doctors in real life and in media always had pipe perpetually hanging from their mouth. It's a trope kinda like how a mechanic is always covered in grease and wiping his hands on a rag, or how all baseball players chewed and spat tobacco, or a farmer always had to have a pitchfork in one hand or be riding a tractor, or that a secretary is always filing her nails, etc. Now that I think about it, there's like a gillion mini tropes like that. Feel free to add on.

There was something I noticed when re-watching Dexter last week. It usually happens when 2 characters are dating and one is about to break-up with the other one. The other one will come in and talk a bunch, usually in a good mood, while the one that's about to deliver the bad news is just sitting there not saying anything. Then, after they deliver a bunch of lines, all while the character sits there without responding the whole time, the other character finally slows down and asks something like "whats wrong". Seriously, it happens like 4 times in Dexter lol. Also, one thing that always cracked me up, and you mostly see it in cartoons or animated films/shows, is how when you see two people who look a lot alike, they're trying to tell you that these two are husband and wife, not brother and sister.

When I watched a quiet place I said the aliens better not have a weakness like the aliens in Mars attacks😭

I assure you that anyone that went into see that movie when it came out understood that it was a wacky comedy and not a documentary.

I just appreciate the absolute dedication to go to Pahrump. To be like "I've never been there. I'm going to go," is so neat. Even if it sucked lol

I think Tom Jones was a logic pick for the role, at the time he was playing in Vegas like all the time so it was actually possible for him to be there at the time of the invasion :D

My step mom's brother worked on this movie. My dad got a laser disc copy of the movie signed by the director for one of his friends.

I think Tim Burton just wanted a movie where he could kill off big named stars on screen hehe.

Long time watcher, first time commenting, but I had to this time. Big fan of the movie, but never knew it originated from some weird cards way back! And love the effort you put to the video actually going to Pahrump just to come back was too funny. Keep up the great content!

There was a point in my life where I confused independence day and mars attacks and thought that will smith conquered the aliens with yodeling. I was a grown ass adult too so I can't blame it on being a kid.

We so deserve a sequel, or a prequel, or a remake. I don’t care. Just another MarsAttacks!
