This is a great video for a KSP movie with all of the cinematics and the fact that it could've been developed way back when! If I were you I would've added in some of the moon landing sound effects to add in that 1970s spacecraft feel (like using the radio chatter for "contact light").

Soooo many things need to be figured out for any of this! The physics and mechanical nightmares of a spinning wheel at that RPM "fixed" around an accelerating/decelerating fuselage are daunting and not known. Still artificial gravity for a 2 year mission is a must. The fuel preservation from evaporation is not known. Still no fuel-stations along the way. The radiation. The isolation. Medical attention. Consumables. We have a loooooong way to go with several MAJOR breakthroughs needed along the way...

It was wonderful, this video has beautiful music that fits very well, there are beautiful graphics, and a great idea, I liked that the event takes place in 1979, and spacecraft look very realistic in structure. It's so beautiful that i even placed 8:38 as a desktop picture, i also like detail with live broadcast from Mars. The whole video looked like excerpt from "For all mankind". Honestly, it would be great if you can post a link where everyone can download all of the mods you used, I would love to see another video with a landing on a more distant planet a few years later

Very similar to how the 1970's, 80's, and 90's scientific investigation of a Mars trip was envisioned. Glad you have a 'spin ship' in this video. A ship with a minimum of one half artificial Earth gravity is a must.
@DistracticusPrime
@DistracticusPrime Жыл бұрын
I learned a little about artificial gravity while attempting to build a rotating base. So, I deeply appreciate just how much work went into a beautiful demonstration like this. Just getting all those mods to work is an achievement by itself, then producing it into a concise video... plus "just" design and implement a crewed Mars surface mission.
@DistracticusPrime
@DistracticusPrime Жыл бұрын
@znatrix I'm curious about the specifications of your design. The radius of a rotating habitat has been "controversial", so I'll understand if you don't want to argue it here. But if you're confident: what radius, RPM, and gravity did you choose? Would you imagine any structural problems for an inflatable?

1:37 That right there may be, by far, the most Kerbal moment I've ever seen. The slow, graceful liftoff of a rocket far more powerful than anything we have ever built yet in real life. A rocket capable of finally sending people to walk on another planet... …before we zoom in to see engine bells made of riveted sheet metal 🤣

I was alive when they went to the moon. I was old enough to remember Gemini too. I felt (as did a lot of folks) we be on Mars in the early 80s. We had the Saturn V! Von Braun had the blueprints for this (basically). When the end came, I was mad. Now I am in my 60s and hope to see humans on Mars before I die. Politics got us to the Moon. All I know.

Ladies and gentlemen you're seeing live broadcast from Mars, men and women walk on another planet, opening a new era for the human race. Once they establish a permanent presence and found a sustainable colony all life on Earth will never have to worry about extinction due to a possible catastrophic event here on planet Earth ever again.
