Mars Opposition 2020 - A view from my telescope (Meade LX-65 8" ACF SCT)

Happy Mars Opposition 2020!
We’ll have to wait another 15 years to see Mars this close to us again. I had a lot of fun imaging Mars the past couple weeks. Here’s my favorite photo I captured of it.

Meade LX65 8” ACF SCT
Explore Scientific EXOS-2 GT Mount with PMC-8
2x Barlow Lens
ZWO ASI120MC-S
Astromania Atmosphere Displacement Corrector (ADC)

I’m excited for the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in December! Keep watching them the sky over the next month as they get closer and closer together. In December 21 they will be the closest since hundreds of years! You don’t want to miss it and you don’t even need a telescope to see them.

How to see Mars through the eyepiece in the lx65 ?

An eyepiece in the 4-11mm range will show it nicely. I recommend using a wide eyepiece 25-35mm to help you find the planet and then switch to high power eyepiece when you have located it in your telescope

Is there a clear difference between the 8-10 inch Meade ACF Telescope?

@@user-ux4wq2zu2l I only have 8” but I would love to get a 10”. More aperture definitely allows you to see more details.

Yes, when you get an 8-inch aperture with a 4mm eyepiece, will some details look blurry?

@@user-ux4wq2zu2l that will depend on the seeing that night. One night that I had some really good seeing, I used a 2x Barlow on my 6.5mm and I could resolve some good detail on Mars. But usually it’s gets very blurry due to atmospheric disturbances when I try to do that in bad seeing and have to stay at 6.5mm without Barlow.

0:52 This is what we get for $1,200, worth it :) I seriously don't understand, what's the point of this? what do we discover? And that's just the neighboring planet,and this is the opposition. Disaster :( Of course, you can't miss impact-seeking music, for nothing
