Thanks to the "out of focus" mode of the camera regular people can understand how it is to go out without glasses.

The Ceriatone sounds very different to my ears. I like it much better (2:35). Smoother in the highs. More round. Simply perfect.

Great to see your still throwing in some Tube amp videos. Love all the AXE FX's videos & modeling videos however ......I think there are quit a bit more people still using Tube amps & we miss those type of video's.!

I bought a MojoTone Blackout British a little while ago. I love it! For the money, some of these companies make such an awesome product and it seems like, right now, there are SO MANY choices out there that you can't go wrong.

I think Ceriatone makes the best rock/metal amps out there for the money. Used to have one of their 2203 replicas back in the day and it's still the best amp I've ever played. I'm saving up for a Yeti but wow, the Molecular has me rethinking that choice! Also, great playing and tones as always!

This is how I discovered your channel a few years ago...you doing in-depth amp reviews. Good stuff. It is interesting how different my unmodded JCM2000 DSL100 sounds on the green channel vs. yours. Much more like a JCM800. Anyway, both your amplifiers are definitely keepers. Thanks.

Ooft, absolute holy grail tones going on here! I love my DSL50 and it's served me well over the years but that Ceriatone sounds mega. Totally nails that EVH brown sound vibe as well as the 80's John Sykes style aggression. Correct me if I'm wrong but kinda reminds me of a Friedman BE-100 kinda sound (not that I've played one in real life but have played through a really good Kemper profile of one). Sick playing as always dude!

Nik is a great guy, I've bought some "centuras" from him and one day I'll buy an amp from him too. By the way, you were the reason I bought a soldano HR100+. I didn't need another amp but found it for a ridiculously low price, said why not and bought it. It sounds insane.

Totally agree with you on the dsl Leon, that’s where they’ve fixed that gain structure on the jvm’s. Orange mode on the overdrive channels is 80’s heaven, no pedal needed.

This video just reassured me that a DSL50 or 100 is in the cards for me. Just got a Triple Rectifier and I would be intriqued to run them simultaneously with maybe a TC Electronic Mimiq in front.

I honest to dog much preferred the DSL, full disclosure....im a DSL100HR owner. Ive had it since launch and i dont care if i ever get another amp again. After almost a decade and a half searching i truly couldnt be happier with the DSL. Most versatile tube amp ive ever played. The Ceriatone was a little too high fi sounding, it sounds like a perfect lead amp but it might fall short with rhythm stuff. I personally feel like the DSL's can do both very well. But the Ceriatone is certainly not a bad amp by any means.

The molecular really sounds great to me. Both amps do, but the molecular is really cool. Just love those tones. All that snarl and gain is so addictive. Where I live all the little clubs don't allow any stage volume, and some just insist you go direct, so hence my study of all the Modeling amps and effects. I was just about to pull the trigger on an amplifier 6, then the POD go came out, and even better the Strymon iridium. The latter supposedely feels amp like really well because of the analogue jfet input stage. So, I've got to make up my mind, but boy I do miss those DSL tones I used to get in my 40 watt combo. Great stuff sir. Drinking an extra large strong coffee this AM and saw this vid in my feed and had to click. 👍💝👍

One thing worth noticing: Ceriatone amps sound absolutely great and I will never part from my Yeti, but Marshalls, most of them at least, have that abrasive, grainy, airy sound that in a band mix always make you cut like a knife. I've noticed that my Yeti, which sounds spectacular on its own, tends to be a lil smoother on the high mids, and suffers a lil in a 2 guitar scenario. Same goes for the Friedman stuff.

The Molecular just has so much more harmonic content involved. It makes the Marshall sound downright sterile by comparison.

Hello Leon, very nice presentation/comparison. I was wondering, have you ever tried using both in a recording? Like Left track Marshall Right Ceriatone( for heavy rhythm style) etc. I think that combined they would make a really huge sound! Cheers keep up the good work.

The DSL is the bargain of the century used, but, the Ceriatone sounds more like a modded Plexi. And at higher gain, fuggedaboutit - kills the DSL. Also, cute blonde alert at 7:20!

A lot of the time, I listen to your videos. So the camera thing isn't a big deal.

If you get chance, when you stack amps in a recording try a Marshall Jubilee in the mix.

Dude, I always loved the DSL 2000 and wanted one so badly...but a week ago I got my fingers on a Bogner Ecstasy 101b and this beast of an amp totally solves all of my needs my Diesel Hagen couldn't satisfy. XD The Molecular sounds amazing and delivers most I would want from a Marshall style amp, but I would really miss a channel switch to have at least 2 sounds. All the snobiness aside the DSL still holds up, is very versatile and sounds killer! :)

What tubes are you using in that dsl50 now? Picked one up myself after watching all your videos on it. Im considering retubing with JJ's ECC83S and EL34L. Heard the EL34L might provide a tighter low end. I mostly use the crunch channel boosted, and lead 1 boosted for hard rock and metal tones. I do enjoy the clean channel too.

great comparison vid, goes to show how much bang for the buck those DSLs are, with some pedals to add some flavour and you're good to go, i think Nuno / extreme still uses them on fly ins, Rat pedal and go =) the ceriatone has a wider variety on tap, seems more robust/less sag/tighter low end, maybe newer tubes in the DSL would change things a bit but that's just how the DSLs are I'd probably just use The Green channel and OD1 + boosts , OD2 seems a bit too much / flub would love to see you compare a Silver Jubilee head (reissue or one of the old ones) in here, probably my favourite marshall atm, especially for higher gain stuff shame about the auto-focus shenanigans , thought i was going drunk =0

How do you like the head switcher / Does it make any worrying clicks or pops when swapping heads? I guess if something goes wrong you could fry an OT on one of the heads.. ?

The Ceriatone blows the DSL but its a one channel amp, not too much versatility. The Ceriatone sounds incredible.

I never liked the DSL amp, the output transformer is tiny on this amp, couple that with the fault where the board goes conductive and destroys your output valves. The Ceriatone is no brainer.

shouldnt BOTH amps be set at noon across the panel to compare them as opposed to setting one to sound similar to the other and no one knows if the presense may be set slightly higher on the Ciriatone.

Hey, any tips how to dial good tight 80's thrash metal tones out of this amp without diode clipping and with overdrive pedal? When i compare Molecular boosted with my JCM 2000 dsl100, i like DSL much more, it's more raw, agressive and not as dry sounding. I don't know, i never had JCM 800, but maybe it's the case with this one, because it's so loud i can't crank it enough for it to sound as good? DSL is much quiter, but it sounds amazing with boss sd-1. Can you compare Molecular to the real JCM 800 and how similar the tones are? It sounds great with diodes clipping, but i'm not sure if i can make it sound as good as DSL without ERA engaged. Thanks!

Ceriatone are great amps but they aren't very accesible. 6 month waiting list for a Chupacabra 100 and you have to order it from vietnam. They need to get on board with more suppliers like sweetwater or guitar center.
