I have a very, extremely good recommendation for Marshall Mondays. Rock Bottom. It was literally meant to be his suicide note, after all of his previous albums flopped. He attempted suicide right after he finished recording the song, because he was once again fired from his job. There are two versions, the studio version, and the demo tape. The studio version obviously sounds much better, and he still has a lot of emotion, but the demo tape has a ton of emotion, and you can tell he was just fed up. I recommend listening to both, but if you had to listen to one, I would probably recommend listening to the studio version. Keep in mind, this was months before Dre found him Infinite flopped, he literally only sold 1000 copies, and it was all out of the back of his car, and he used what little amount was left over from what he made with infinite to make SSLP, which ended up alerting Dre of who he was, and making him into the Em we know today. Truly one of his saddest, and most relatable tracks

Rick Rubin is an old school producer with a long ass beard who kinda in a way resembles Obi Wan Kenobi from the star wars movies, who is Luke's(the protagonist) teacher. Padawan is like a young Jedi in training, Eminem compares himself to that but also says that he sounds like Chewbacca because of his raspy delivery. It's a little Sky Wars scheme, not too complex if you've watched the movies.

Rod Argent wrote the song with Eminem, Rod Argent wrote Time of the Season for the Zombies in 1968, a 45 record most 20’ year olds (his parents) would have played over and over again, most likely a childhood memory of his parents. Everything Eminem does has meaning. Just like the song Sweethome Alabama in the movie 8 Mile, were he uses that song as his beat

Charles Manson wanted to be an artist and was almost signed to a relatively big label(don't remember which), this was before the more know story of him. And the ''completely brain dead Rainman'' line is a refrence to his song called Rainman which goes'' cause i aint got no legs, or no brain''

Don’t understand how reactors don’t like the chorus. It’s his own twist on the original sample. Even though they recognise the beat, They probably don’t know the original well enough to know how good he’s made it his own.

Bro you are spot on. All of Eminem newest music from 2013 onwards... you ALWAYS pick up something you missed first time. Its like a great informative book, read it once you get a good feeling from it and feel informed, read it again you get that and more second time reading. Incredible music this. We'll never see another eminem.

No, he definitely says “I’m promoting my _passion_ until I’m passed out” not “ _past_ “, it’s on every major lyrics site including Genius.
@dubheirs511
@dubheirs511 3 жыл бұрын
@@ocsmo5650 Well then ive upgraded Ems own lyrics. “Past” would have been better and made more sense IMO. He’s always talking about what he went through when he was younger or the earlier stages in his career.
@ocsmo5650
@ocsmo5650 3 жыл бұрын
@@dubheirs511 hardly an upgrade, you would have wanted Em to rhyme ‘past’ and “passed” together? But actually it isn’t an upgrade, because Em was known in his early days to hand out flyers (which is actually what caused his beef with ICP) which is when he would ‘promote his passion’ as a rapper. So no, it makes perfect sense as it already is.
@dubheirs511
@dubheirs511 3 жыл бұрын
@@ocsmo5650 he wasnt rhyming those two words though. He was rhyming “passed out” with “lash out” and “glass house”. So whether or not it was “past” or “passion” it wouldn’t effect the rhyme. It just seems like something em would do by using two different versions of “past/passed” in the same bar using both meanings. But, you’re right. He definitely says passion.
@ocsmo5650
@ocsmo5650 3 жыл бұрын
@@dubheirs511 well considering he loves internal rhyme schemes, using two words that basically sounds the same doesn’t work, hence why he clearly didn’t use it. And as I have already explained, promoting his passion of rap makes more sense.

(11:00) Eminem said the word Controversy spaced like "Contra - Versey", then followed it up with "is on, a beat killing spree" (Contra = a video game where you shoot waves of aliens in each level), killing spree = shooting the aliens) I think he kept pausing the song after the word Controversy to explain, the reason he missed the contra reference he paused it at the wrong time, he still the # 1 bar catcher. Thanks for the video. 100!

Stevie knight the beat is a sample of the 1968 zombies song time of the season and this isn't the first old rock song sampled by em and was most likely chosen to relate to audiences music he grew up listening to before discovering hip hop.
