Yes, I did it. All info here headfirstamplification.com. Jason from Headfirst invented the mod. But modding an Origin is quite a pain in the ass tough but possible with some soldering experience.

The PCB mounted valves and controls will put these origins on electrical engineers benches for repairs not too far down the line, almost just as well to use a Marshall MG 50 GFX for reliability though their controls are also soldered onto the PCB board.

Yes, agreed! Not the best built quality…all of the 20w Marshalls as it seems.

Yeah. No idea why they made it that way when it can sound killer with some circuit changes and new parts for 5$…

You can for sure use it as a pedal platform BUT I like amps that just sound killer by itself - especially with crunch & higher gain sounds. If you hit those amps with a pedal then you are in tone heaven!

You’re doing so much more than just what a pedal does with these mods. And I know this personally, needing 6 pedals to do something an amp should already be able to do is a nightmare.

@@modusceo Not really all you are doing is adding clipping diodes you can get the same thing from a pedal i can understand changing a gain stage with a 10k cathode resistor to a cold clipper but why would you want to permanently add solid state anything to a tube amp.

Just treat a pedal such as Fulltone OCD V2 in LP mode as a cranked-up amplifier and boost the Boss SD-1, I guarantee that the Marshall Origin 20 c, i.e. the one in the combo version, will sound with a beautiful distortion sound and you don't have to mess with mods and other miracles: )

Adding a gain stage is different than adding a pedal.
