Some are worried about their academics and grades, some got family issues,some are afraid to come out as themselves, their sexualities aren't being accepted, their insecurities. Thank you so much for this song. I'm really grateful from depth of my heart. I'm way too tired of pretending that I'm ok, faking everything. No one, neither my friends not my family knows what I'm going through. And it grew way too much, like a poisonous sapling growing into a tree inside me even after concealing. I wanted to talk to someone, I wanna hug someone and cry on their shoulder. To avoid everyone around me, I started playing random songs on full volume, to disconnect me from everyone. I'm having so many thoughts running through me and I was exhausted from controlling the demon inside me coming out. But I could feel it breaking through. When I heard these lyrics and they sang 'its ok to not be okay', I swear I burst into tears. I couldn't control them. I wanted someone to say that to me... Thank you sooooooooooo much for this song. This song plays all the time at my job, and now it reminds me that in order to heal or gain resilience, we have to admit that there's a problem in the first place, hence the "not okay" part. Additionally, it implies that crying or expressing negative emotions vulnerably is not a sign of weakness. It's actually a sign of strength. Not many people can just allow themselves to cry.

You know the saying "just focus on the good things in life" I did that but I only thought about the good things that happened to me and ignored all of the bad things now when I get depressed I don't know why, I think my life was perfect but when I keep thinking I realize it wasn't but then I feel guilty because I feel like I have nothing to feel depressed about when I do. Don't forget to think about the bad things every now and then. Because if you only focus on the good things you won't notice the bad things happening and then when you get sad you'll be confused why.

Wow this song really hit me. I am dealing with a diagnosis of a third cancer within the last 2 yrs. Grateful to be alive but these words are so powerful and my journey has been exhausting. So thank you Demi for singing those words i am honesty in that moment found out about my third one earlier today. You somehow find the strength when you need it. 💖

My best friend in the whole wide world is going through some hard times. I wanted to do something nice for her, so I am trying to do a cover of this song, record it, then dance over it with my own chores to send to her. Not even joking. It's a great feeling to hear that it is okay not to be okay. I really needed that reminder. Especially with my parents, they set really high expectations for me because I'm not like my siblings. My older siblings have Autism and then my little brother is basically the king. It's so hard to act like you are okay all the time. I haven't been 'myslef' for 4 years. I have so many mental health problems. My mom tells me I'll be fine if I just do all my school work, clean my room, help around the house, take care of my siblings if needed, take care of the dog, and never get time to relax for a bit. I stay up super late worrying about if I did good enough or not. I wake up early thinking that if I get a head start, then I will finally get rest. They complain that all my friends live so far away. It's not my fault that hanging out with friends or going to church activities is the ONLY time I get away. Church activities are super fun and I love church. Everyone there is super nice! My parents are nice, but they need to lower their expectations and let me have time for myslef.

I pray that you receive the courage to express to your parents how you truly feel and that somehow, maybe in time, they'll understand and ease back a little. If they, unfortunately, don't understand and thus double down on their expectations, then I pray that you receive consolation and resilience to push through for yourself. I am here at 1:00 just debating on giving up on life.. and before I did I wanted to listen to Demi lovato and I remember she released this song with marshmallow and now I’m sitting on my bed crying and replaying because this only thing that feels like someone actually cares..
