No one plays Kinderszenen like her (actually, no one plays Schumann as well as she does), but I have to say this rendition is the most absolutely beautiful and moving of all (including hers), in my opinion.

Schumman did have many children around (his own) when he composed this piece, and you can tell these are such story telling as much as an instrumental piece can say anything at all...Just love them.

I've read that Schumann intended to write notebook of "easy" pieces for young people to learn. In the process he created a bridge for all of us to return and reflect on our own childhoods. So beautifully played here by Martha Argerich.

I find these personally to somehow transfer scenes of childhood of old Germany, not of my own childhood, it's hard to believe Schumann's music could be so incredibly specific in that way but these wordless sounds manage to do such a thing in a very clear manner.

but Brahms didn't have her,,, :) that is corect, I so admire Clara for staying true to her husband, how sad it is to think of her loneliness from Robert when he was away at his facility where he spent his last days. Just so sad about Robert, but God gave us all the gift of music, and He certainly was generous with Robert.

I heard her do the first one after a (magnificently performed) prokofiev piano concerto as an encore. And she did it loud and rushed it like she had to do it. It's so nice to hear it here where she really cares about it.

I don’t know why many “experts” try to turn it as a difficult thing. For me, Schumann’s Kinderszenen is about innocence. And maybe it’s very hard for some people to understand it... I think Martha Argerich can take it.

Marta Argerich her mothers name was Bronfman. These Bronfman`s were from Odessa i believe. How is it possible that the all the major stars comes out from Odessa(Ukrainian town 300000 population) like E.Gilels S.Richter David Oistrakh. What is wrong the rest of the world 7 billion people. Why they can not play like these. My home town Oulu is the friendship town of Odessa. But we have the best skaters like the hockey player Reijo Ruotsalainen and the fig.skater SusannaPöykiö she skated like a butterfly

Schumann- piano, orchestral or vocal- demands performers with plenty of technique to make sense of the tempo, rhythmic and melodic changes. And when it comes to structure of any of his major compositions, it crumbles without the former qualities.
