Mike, check your local area for what's called an IBC Tote. Most food companies will give them to you for free. Run your split system water to one of those tanks. You can hook a garden hose on to the tank, and water that way. Just an idea.

Another thing that no one tells you about a mini split is that the squirrel cage or blower needs to be cleaned, every year. All the dust and moisture creates a crusty mucky mold on the fins. You can either disassemble everything to get to the blower or easier to just remove the plastics and use a paintbrush/toothbrush to clean the blower fins. Your air velocity and overall cooling efficiency will improve a lot with clean squirrel cage. While you're there, spritzing the evaporator coil with a solution or an appropriate coil cleaner of some kind. Might as well hose down and spray clean the outside units too.

Mike, please put a screen of some sort on the end of the pipe. You will have bugs and little critters in there, blocking the water flow. My brother had this happen and it flooded his attic where the unit was sitting. Mice! Love your channel and watch all your videos. Blessings to you all from Kentucky.

This is your home not just a house. This is where the kids are allowed to be kids. Where your family shares dreams and goals of the future and a lot of great memories from the past. It may not be what others are used to but it's how your family is happy. Don't let anyone negative mess with your kingdom. You have a wonderful family. So much love you can feel just by watching your videos. Keep up the good work! You are both great parents.

I have a list of projects as well. Dusty house built in the 70’s with electric ceiling heat. Probably much like a yurt dust wise. New shower going in with dust accompaniment. Nice to know others have challenges and accomplish the goals. Your mini split issue seems like dream for me living in the desert southwest. I kept my evaporative cooler because it helps my skin feel much better. When temps reach triple digits we laugh and say “it’s a dry heat”. Thanks for taking us along it reminds me that nothing lasts forever and I will eventually have a new set of goals although they may not be Martha Stewart approved.

The little guy is so adorable! And look at all that hair! Time is flying! Just too cute! Mike, I think it's great that you have kept things real! You are right, on a homestead the chores, projects and repairs are neverending! I don't care who you are, mistakes are made and learned from. The next time is always a bit better than before. You, your family and your homestead have come very far in a relatively short amount of time! Your homestead and family is something to be proud of, don't let anyone tell you different! Take care, guys! Always a pleasure!😀

I think I have commented on the joys of solar power in conjunction with the mini-split system. We have an all electric home, including our Prius Prime plug in car. Our electric bill was $15.00. It is an investment 💙

We are trying to put solar in our home and it's really expensive!
@hollyjobitner3285
@hollyjobitner3285 3 ай бұрын
@@bernadettemanning6896 we bought 36 panels close to 10 years ago. It was $30,000.00. Lots of people spend more than that on cars, trucks, and campers. We received $10,000.00 bank in federal taxes over 2 years because my husband was retired and I had down sized my hours to flex full time so we weren’t making enough money to get all of our taxes back in one year. We are savers and live a frugal lifestyle. Some people get into solar programs, but I don’t know anything about them. Maybe a home equity loan would be a potential. 💙

Lacey, I love that honeysuckle idea! My youngest son (now a teenager) loves picking the blooms and getting the nectar from each flower. While he's away (visiting family), I will try my hand at making this for him! Thank you! And Mike, I think your project for getting the condensate out of the house and using it in the garden is a very good one. We have one window a/c unit that drains right out onto a paved walkway and we've rigged up a sloped drain pan to catch the water and drain into a 1 gallon bucket. Every time we go out into the garden, there's a bucket of water ready to use and the mosquitos don't get a chance to grow new generations in it because it doesn't sit long! I think the mini-split system is much better than a ducted system for several reasons and the main one is I think the venting and ductwork can really become a headache when you decide to do any changes within a home, even rearranging furniture! I think a mini-split is also more energy efficient, too.

We just looked at an otherwise beautiful home that had a terrible mold problem because the air conditioner condensation was draining under the crawl space. There’s now $50,000+ minimum of work that needs to be done to remediate the mold and ensuing problems. Those little ones are too precious to risk!

Hi Y'all, when ? When are you going to add the other yert? I think that you should make a little hallway between teeth, that way you can build three bedrooms and a bathroom on one side and keep the other side as a kitchen, living and extra bathroom only. It will look so good. Like an update home. 👍😁

It will save on the MONTHS of cleaning the dust (and fiberglass) now in your space. I agree to use what ya got, but sometimes a tiny investment will payoff. This after the fact, I know.
