I've never seen a more average player get spoken about in such high regards. 40 million years ago would have gotten you players like Sanchez or Drogba, hell you could still get players like Salah for a similar price in 2017. Now it gets you Anthony Gordon. No disrespect to the lad, but he's not even worth a half of that

One of the reasons I’ve never took to the self proclaimed ‘starboy’ with his feminine dress sense, weird hair, crap football, diving everywhere then acting the hard man… what’s not to like?

As a Newcastle fan I'm sceptical of Gordon. The one thing that's defined our signings in the past year is that players are assessed based on character. This is really disappointing behaviour from Gordon and he is going to have to prove himself not just based on skill but attitude. We spent less than £50 million on Pope, Trippier, Burn and Targett combined, all of whom have been outstanding signings and great characters in the dressing room. I hope Gordon isn't the first big questionable signing from the new leadership team.

He's a quality player, English and 21. He wanted a move to Chelsea, Everton turned them down, he hasn't been happy ever since. Some Howe coaching and joining such a buzzing city and dressing room, he would shine. He's Everton's top scorer with 3 this season from 12 appearances. Hope he signs.

Iwobi has 1 goal and 6 assists in just a game more from deeper midfield. Gray is actually the top scorer with 5 goals and 1 assist in a game more than Gordon. Don't hype up Gordon, he's literally done nothing of note, just another hyped up player just because he's English and young

Gordon's a great young talent, the Newcastle fans who don't rate him will immediately change their minds once he's scored a goal or two, showed some great touches or assists. Guaranteed.

Let's get this right, might not of done much for Everton so far, but the club clearly needs funds to bring player's in and one of the only saleable asset's in the squad. I reckon it's mainly Gordon wanting to go, but wouldn't put it past the club pushing this move through now

exactly, Gordon could of course have dealt with it better but the fans will admit the club is a shambles and then certain fans are abusing the players. Gordon had to be selfish and think about himself. He wasn't even starting every game and if Everton went down, top clubs might no longer be interested and his career could be in freefall.

If I was a Newcastle fan I wouldn’t want him. The fee is too high for what we have seen of his quality, and his behavior suggests he doesn’t have the right mentality and character. Much better options out there for Newcastle. The only justification for his behavior is that Everton promised him in the the Summer that he could leave in January.

It boils down to this. Who would you rather play for, a team fighting for top 4 or a team fighting relegation. As a newcastle fan, I've seen players' heads turn, and you can't ever really blame them for wanting to leave when the next club is better placed to win achieve things and obviously pay alot more.

They know exactly what has happened here but they’re not saying it. Let me explain. Newcastle speak to Everton and cannot meet the silly price tag. Newcastle have spoken to player and agent and expressed interest to stir things a bit, to get player and agent interested without having the money that Everton want. Agent has told Gordon to skip training and essentially end his working relationship with Everton in order to force a move for a cheaper price for Newcastle. Win-win-win (Newcastle pay less for an unsettled player, Everton get a decent amount of cash for a player that didn’t want to be there, agent gets his money)

Nobody knows the full story and I very much doubt he just didn’t turn up. He was ambushed by fans who barricaded his car in the street at night and abused and threatened him. Is everyone just ignoring that ? When you are threatened like that all bets are off and you are well within your rights not to go anywhere near a club.

Totally agree, this is a statement to what direction Eddie wants the team to go down, I'd rather we get what we can for ASM now rather than less in the summer as he's been great for us but doesn't fit Eddies style.

Nufc paying for potential with Gordon. Hes a funny looking lad, but he will be a good player for years to come, and under Eddie Howe he will at least be used properly, and not thrown in different positions every game.

Feel bad for gordon, he's been playing alright (don't get me wrong, 7 goals in 3 seasons isn't enough). He's a local lad, a blue from young, has been pushed out by the fans despite him putting in everything he's got. It's sad. However, if that's all he's got, maybe we got lucky got 40m. Time will tell, let's hope dyche plays the game
