The Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC is a fitting tribute to Dr. King's leadership in the Civil Rights movement: in solid granite, his legacy is cemented in the tapestry America.
From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 during the March on Washington, Dr. King imagined an end to racial inequality in his "I have a Dream" speech -- a speech held as one of the greatest pieces of American oratory ever to be spoken.

One day I might be able to celebrate this day without crying. I'm 46 years old and have seen much racism here in south ga. I'm proud to have 2 degrees. One of my kids topped the dean's list til the day she graduated VSU. I have 2 kids presently in college and now raising my 8 yr old in this cruel world. My heart to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and many more whom made a stand for us all.

We loved this! Great job! We just visited DC and went to the spots MLK visited during the March on Washington. It was really powerful, especially when we got to the Lincoln Memorial.

I went on the field trip in 5th grade, when the statue was still in progress. I want to go back next year or so. So much memories, it’s such a beautiful place, I loved this lake where there’s a lot of cherry trees

I have a dream that one day my children will not live during wars or fight in wars but to be at peace with the world. I have a dream that one day it is alright to be different from those who disagree. I have a dream for when i leave this world that my life had a meaning and that i helped everyone even if it makes me poor i do not care for money but to be friends with my enemy and to help and solve my enemy problems and to make the world a great place for those whom yet to come and I see one day when i pass that war will stop to realise the rong. for racism to become friend ships and for my childrens children to grow up to be great people who will just get backup when life hurts them the most. This may not make sense but i hope most of you will kinda understand
