One of the best "Sleeper" guitars Martin makes. It can do it all. Bluegrass flatpicking, fingerpicking blues, singer backup, and a whole lot more. If I was on a desert island with just one guitar, it would be this one. Love mine.

I just can't over how good this guitar sounds - so dynamic! I actually went on Reverb and bought mine after hearing the amazing sound in this video. Couldn't be happier with the decision to purchase. These are so underrated. Never getting rid of it.

I have a M-36 and absolutely love its tone and playability. Was wondering what strings your running on this particular one? I have been using the elixer light 80/20 bronze nano web strings and like them but am always looking for something new. Great video btw!

I tend to use the Martin mediums 13s . I find it resonates more with the guitars although some might find it hard to play✌️❤️

Thank you, sir...new subscriber here. I know the D35 is your fav, and I'm thinking about that too. At the moment though, after your video,, I'm really liking this M36. I noticed in the comments below you suggested the OM-28 as an alternative to this one...which one would you pick between the two? Is the M36 tone affected by the thinness of the body? Thanks again.
@JonIsJustTooLoud2 жыл бұрын
It’s really about the sound you are going for.. the M36 has a bigger sound✌️❤️
@kifferpete7987Ай бұрын
Hey Jon, I love the D35, but I have right shoulder issues. Makes is sore to play the big D35. Do you think the M36 would be a good alternative
@JonIsJustTooLoudАй бұрын
The M36 is going to be bigger.. try the OM sizes if you can

I couldn't tell if Jonathan really liked the sound and playability of this guitar or not. The comment that it would do well in a multi-guitar band vs. something on it's own made me think perhaps not so much, or at least not his personal style. If not, I'd love to hear why not. And btw, Jonathan's playing is phenominal!

Big guitar with big sound (nothing i can handle in front of my belly). In the description the pins are not mentioned, are they bone too? Great song played by a great Man. Thank you well 🖖

Jonathan did it behave well for fingerstyle or was the bass a bit much?
@JonIsJustTooLoud4 жыл бұрын
It’s a tad bass heavy.. easily controllable by EQ when recording. But sounds great live ✌️❤️

Nice demo, your playing, as always, top notch. Did you say Martin changed the thickness and bracing on this model?
@JonIsJustTooLoud4 жыл бұрын
No ..the M36 has the same 5 1/16 thickness braces as the D35 just that they are scalloped
@michaelparks31064 жыл бұрын
@@JonIsJustTooLoud The D-35 has 1/4" straight braces, the HD-35 has 1/4" scalloped braces. The M-36 has a top like a J-40 (jumbo size, 5/16" scalloped braces). I have a D-35 that I bought new in 1977, and just picked up a 2019 M-36, love them both. Enjoyed your playing also.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud Yes thanks, I have a D35 and I was always struck by its lovely warm an full tone. I've not come across anything like it since. I;ve had the d35 for 13 years or so and the frets have become very worn, I had it redressed a couple of years ago. I am thinking of buying something else.. I play far more 'tune/ melodies' now and find that the D35 tends to have less projection in the mid range.. I am seriously thinking abot M36 , J40,or 00028 Modern I'd appreciate your thoughts Then there is the Gibson J200 (Studio?) I've seen Mary Chapin Carpenter playing and it sound great.
