There was no beginning and can be no end , before the big bang there possible was another big bang or similar, the end will only be the end of our universe, it may give rise to another universe , or other universes will continue to exist , basically there are no limits and infinite amount of possibilities

It is no nature in 4% of the universe. Renaming either theory dark matter doesn't make it physical or a material lol Their is no esoteric theory of everything woven into the universe. It's more complex than this. Just as you would create something you would add more redundancy to it.

On the one hand we'd travel for about 40 thousand years to get to the nearest planet that MIGHT support human life, nevermind the inevitable conflicts that would compel those astronauts to attempt to return to Earth after about one, count 'em, one generation......... but on the other hand, I'm wondering how if in space something has to push against something else to achieve movement, and in the opposite direction, but if space, by definition, is nothingness, what does a space craft's engine propel against while in space? If it's truly propelling against nothingness, why is it not motionless? Just hot air blasting out of its nether regions, like a series of farts. I'm not denying gravity, I'm just saying "space" needs to be redefined if we are to continue.

Lex, you did not say in the introduction to your talk that in our country Martin Rees is the current Astronomer Royal, which is a very prestigious and notable post in the United Kingdom, which goes back for centuries, to 1675 when Charles ll founded the Royal Observatory at Greenwich! Lex Fridman. This man stole my heart. I’m a 29 year old mom who is cleaning my home and I can’t find anything else in the world I would rather listen to. This seems like the most important questions in life. Everything that came out of this man’s mouth is all I think about on repeat in my brain. I don’t comment usually in videos. Especially his excitement for ai makes me think that it’s one day going to come up and slap us in the face with the advancements of technology once ai is helping us. The part especially about making a simulation to predict certain clues for the actual theory of everything really made me wonder if were in one right now. The theory that gets everyone spooked.

Honeybadger...I experience precognition. 9/11, so many terrible things, the analysis of life, combined with a Mystical outlook = MAGIC. He’s just scraping the bottom of the barrel of his minds to regurgitate what he’s been programmed with- a western rendition of astrological science- an elderly boy if you will. This video is absolute insanity. So much wisdom and sharpness in Martin Rees. What a smart mind, with so much sophistication and gentleness in the way he communicates. Also top-notch interviewing by Lex. Letting him speak for long times. The respect Lex has for him palpable. Yet he is not afraid to push back against Martin's points and crack the occasional jokes. I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to peek into the mind of someone of like Rees.

For 80 years old, his quickness of wit and his intellect are humbling. He was entirely engaged throughout the interview and he was quick enough to correct the small things and to interject when necessary. How cool. I’ve meet Martin in the clubhouse of Stanford university about 15 years ago. The introduction was by his senior Baruch Blumberg president of the American Philosophical Society. Baruch found the cure to hepatitis B and saved millions of lives.

Rees is a great example of why matured elders will always be the default to finding wisdom and sanity in progress. Lex has a great optimism which is normal for being under 40, but once you cross 40 and have some experience with all the generations of life, you realize that science fiction really is fantasy for the most part, it’s just that it’s the fantasies of nerdy boys, but it’s fantasy all the same. No one wants to be cared for by a robot in old age. Before returning to grad school, I worked in hospice and took care of elderly people in institutions. It’s a crime we put them in these homes as if they were a burden on “economy” and progress. Old age exists precisely because we are supposed to develop our consciousness further (beyond the maturation it goes through when you become a parent) by taking care of our mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts. It’s not dirty work. It’s profound and humbling and it’s where we find our deepest wisdom, which the tech utopians most often lack because they’re stuck in their childish fantasies. More elders as guests on the show would be a great balance to the youth Lex is still experiencing. People like Rees have the vital ability to speak sensibly about the future of the human race without the tech sensationalism that often blinds the Musk fanboys (me being one of them). Well done on getting this diamond soul to speak on the podcast!

My favorite thing about Lex's podcast is that the episodes are frequent, and yet still high quality. He has optimized quanitity and quality. Lex has made me rethink so many things in my life, and changed the way I think about the world. I live in Austin and I hope someday I'm able to tell him this in person. While also telling him he needs to get Edward Snowden, Andrew Yang, and someone who can discuss nuclear energy on the podcast!

Lex, I am certain - that as you do these interviews - you see a bit of yourself in your guests and perhaps one day you may be in the other chair, imparting your experience, wisdom and insight so the knowledge-transfer continues onto the next generation of scientists and explorers. Best funny comic strip ever, in my opinion. I was a teenager during the years they were being written. I recall feeling so sad when Bill Watterson announced he was retiring the strip. Spaceman Spiff daydreams by Calvin in Ms. Wormwood's drudgingly boring classroom were exceptionally entertaining to read in the daily comics.

I am using your "advice for young people" in my chemistry class to close out on Fridays. amazing. i try speak to or arrange meetings with older scienists in my dpt to draw their knowledge on everything.. sometimes its uncomfortable asking physics queries to a biologist professor but the statement of biology is more complex than physics i couldnt agree more and to have articulated it so well.. influential

His CV is bonkers; top UK astrophysicist in the last 50 years, President of the Royal Society (club for ultra boffins), Master of Trinity College in Cambridge (a sort of mini Harvard or Yale) and a Lord no less so gets to sit in the House of Lords at Westminster in a funny red gown. Well, he earned it I say.

He seemed to be having a very good time and the resulting chat was uplifting and enlightening. Hard work for a non-scientist like me (I’m with his chimps on this!)but I am compelled to try. Very entertaining questions!
