This year's spring trip had tolerable bugs and that really made it nice. Having found the old cabin has turned into the discovery of a lifetime. So many great memories have been made there.

I am obviously not against having company at the cabin. Setting it up is the hard part and what could get out of control.

Glad you like them as I am so happy to share such a place. A little google search and I think it was a dirty throttle housing. This happens on multi-port fuel injection engines eventually because there is no fuel going through to clean them. Took it off and cleaned it and could tell my engine was running better and have not had the throttle act up again. It was surging at idle trying to correct the rpm drop caused by the crud in the throttle throat.

The tree handle is a little heavy but gets the job done. The rake part is part of a rubber truck flap.

I have a mess here in ILlinois to get off my driveway. Rained on top of snow so when it quits drizzling I need to get out there as the temps will tumble this evening.

It is nice to have guests to share some of the times with, especially in the long nighttime hours of mid-winter.

Like I said in the video there were a lot of rest breaks. This young buck learned that if its a long day ahead you need to rest EARLY and OFTEN.

As I always say, its all about the proper clothing. After the hard trek in it was important to get that fire going and warm the cabin. The reason for all the rest breaks on the way in was to avoid getting wet from sweating. The proper pace keeps the body heat just right and shedding hat and gloves can also help as your body pumps so much blood to the extremities in an effort to stay at the proper temp. When you stop moving you put them back on as you will chill fast.

They have no fear of humans and will hunt in the daytime if hungry so views like this are not rare up there. Once I had two of them in a tree above the cabin as we slept outside.

@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I had the privilege of seeing a snowy owl when I was just a wee lad and my father pointed it out to me and said look at that beautiful owl you'll probably never see another one and by gosh he was right still haven't seen another , 40 year's later

A little google search and purchased a can of throttle body cleaner, I think it was all it needed.

For a Great Gray Owl a trip to the far north is needed. That one was one mile below the Canadian border.

Maybe I live too far north, I live in Ottawa. I'll have to travel south. We have oils in the area.

It was a balmy day when we arrived at the cabin so by the time some opening chores were taken care of the temps inside were nice.

It looks like we will have plenty of snow next month up there. I hope the deer have some trenches packed down that I can walk in.

I work in the woods as a timber cruiser, the snow depth is making it hard to get around, the deer are following my snowshoe trails

Up here in Vancouver, Canada, we got six inches of typical West Coast wet snow. Not only do we not know how to drive in this stuff, it shut most everything down for two days. Better control comes with dry snow, but this wet stuff is from mars...don't matter if you have snow tires, forget it, still gonna have problems. 😂😂

That one especially. It is essentially all feathers and weighs only about 2 pounds but is a large owl.
