Sitting just off the golf course at Martis Camp in Truckee CA, with views of the ski runs at Northstar California, this custom home is the perfect blend of luxury and mountain rustic design.
The great room is framed by of wall of sixteen foot sliding glass doors, that brings the outdoor living space in.
Structural steel with rough timber inlays, raw corrugated steel, reclaimed barn siding and locally harvested stone wrap the exterior and not only looks great, but is completely maintenance free.

Well put. Your homes ARE "...works of art". Warm, and casual. Yet elegant at the same time. Not at all ostentatious like the typical Beverly Hills/Bel Air type homes. No warmth in those homes. It's like they built those homes just to satisfy their need to tell any one that enters "I have too much money". Superficial. Of course they have a market. Lots of people like that out there. Purposing designing the interiors to look commercial....their idea of "success". To make a walk in closet that resembles a boutique. Kitchens that look like restaurants...not a "home". Your architects hit the mark continuously. Love to see you start building on Hawaii and in Canada (Ontario...near Toronto).

Those cheaply built stucco homes of so cal would never survive the harsh winters you get in Tahoe Truckee area. The building materials used in mountain homes are far higher quality and built to last. Thats why you see some mansions on the lake topping 25 mil. Though not outrageously large.

I think you can appreciate various designs and aesthetics without denigrating one or the other. You should consider setting, location, materials, etc. Be more open minded

Love how the architects managed to build essentially a stud/drywall home with the rustic warmth of a log home. And keep it modern and elegant at the same time. For those who want elements of how most homes are built but like to see a good use of this kind of wood and stone. For a more earthy look. Not an cookie cutter clinical look commonly seen today in most builds. For those who don't want to get a "log home" and go "fully rustic/elegant". As there are things to consider building a custom log home different from a traditional stud frame home (e.g. log expansion and contraction as the weather changes Don't know if log homes are more "reactive" vs stud frame... Would love to see this builder and architects build in Ontario, Canada. Near Toronto. :)
