Full scandi I think. Was a long time ago I bought this knife and I have not bought any scandi grind Marttiini since but fairly sure they come with a 0 grind scandi.

@@KuukkeliBushcraft 😁 Thanks for your reply. No chip shops but you are in Finland. Just got delivery of a Sissipuuko from Varustaleka. What a great looking knife and sheath (like you said in another of your vids). I would get as much stuff as you can while in Finland. I bought over £400 worth of stuff from Varustaleka but they advised me to buy £135 excluding vat as UK customs and the delivery company may add extra charges in UK. So I had to split my order into 4 separate packages. What is that about ? Good old Brexit 😂

@@chrisgibson2328 4 separate packages? That's cheaper? Now I am confused. Been hearing lots of things about problems with people shipping stuff from Finland to the UK a lot recently. Still waiting for my residency permit (that I didn't need before) to come through. Varusteleka is awesome, spent a couple of bob on there just now. I love their sense of humour have you seen their "Molvanian multi-purpose wrap". If not look them up. It made my night😂. The sissipuukko is a great knife, it will serve you well.

@@chrisgibson2328 but we can have blue passports, isn't that fantastic 🙄. I try to keep out of politics on here but I am pretty baffled by this nonsense. I am sure some things, like shipping things from Finland will become smoother. Just a little more expensive than before. There are bound to be many complications in the begging and lots of things that don't make sense (like multiple packages being cheaper than one).

The stainless Lynx does seem to be very popular in Finland as are many martiinni models. I own 2 of their knives but both in carbon steel so I have no real experience of their stainless blades. But your right that is soft. I don't remember ever having serious edge retention on my carbon steeled martiinni blades. At least with a softer steel it will be easier to sharpen and less likely to chip. I would guess though the cost of the steel is a major factor in the choice of steel and also possibly one of the reasons that there blades are made in Germany and France rather than Finland. Another thing with the Lynx models is the handles are varnished which is not ideal as it is not as grippy as an oiled handle. The varnish also starts to chip off with time which looks rather ugly. Both of mine are not varnished models (it is of course down to personal preference but I don't like varnish). I have just looked at the website and they don't actually say the hrc of the standard carbon steel but the carbinox is at least a little harder. I don't hear people complaining about Martiinni knives, they generally have quite a good reputation here. My own experience has been good. I think the blade geometry is good, some of the handle styles are not really to my taste but there are plenty to choose from and they are pretty cheap. I would imagine the edge retention wouldn't be that great though with that hrc. Thanks for watching and I am sorry if this reply is a little longwinded. Best wishes Tim

I love the traditional design and although im not finnish my grandfathers on both sides are from scandinavia and i grew up with found memories of knives like these and moras alike. @@wis1024 sounds like a good choice. The thing I really like about the Lynx is the sheath. Not for any practical reason, I just think it looks really cool. Also the fact that the design hasn't changed hardly at all for nearly 100 years is also really cool.

So sorry for taking so long to reply, only just noticed this comment now. I wouldn't really say that a folding knife could be considered a puukko. I have seen Martiini folders but am not too familiar with them, however if it has a scandi grind it should be good. For a stick tang puukko I would recommend the martiini Timberjack. However for a folder I would probably recommend one of the flat grind Ganzos in D2 or 440c. Hope this is helpful.

I am sorry, I can't think of any Danish made knives. I am sure there are some good ones though but certainly not as well known as some of the Finnish ones.

That's their choice mate, I have knives that I won't batton too. I have seen many knives broken by battening including by Finns. I have never broken a knife in this way because I don't do it with thick or knotty wood. Still I could misjudge it one day expecially with a stick tang knife. That's why it is good to have an axe.

@@bobbieschke599 seems like the viral crazyness is going on for ever. Very bad for business up here. Never been to Poland but I hear there are some beautiful wild places there. I have heard a lot about Biaviwieski (very safe bet that I spelt that wrong) and it sounds amazing. I quite like the vodka they make thereabouts too.

But I like to compare knives to Moras, everyone knows what a Mora is. Besides I did say it was fancier than a Mora and everybody knows that Finnish knives are better 🇫🇮. Yes I live in Finland up in Enontekiö. Very glad to have another Finnish viewer. I am getting a much larger percentage of views from Finland nowadays, nearly as many as from the UK. I speak four different languages but I do none of them well 😂 I have nothing against the Swedes but I've always wondered Mora in popularity... Personally I use only Finnish carbon steel knives in my spare time, working as a chef, then I use knives made of stainless steel. Therefore, exports like this are interesting. Keep doing what you do 👍

The Lynx lumberjack puukko retails at about 30 Euros in Finland, from the factory shop it cost 22 Euros.
