Solo Performance of Georgia On My Mind on Alto Saxophone by Marty Paoletta.
I Haven't played much for the last fifteen years. Now looking to play again for enjoyment and professionally. My all - time favorite saxophone player is David Sanborn - probably obvious because of the similar way that I approach a song.
I get asked frequently how I am able to get the Sanborn tone. Believe me, I worked on it for months as a young musician. I finally figured out a couple of things, mainly to keep your mouth cavity wide open and let the reed vibrate naturally. The rest is just feel and passion.
My setup is a Selmer Mark VI, A Dukoff P8 mouthpiece, and Vandoren v16 2 1/2 strength reeds.
I am planning to put together some videos giving instruction on how to achieve tone, overblow, and altissimo notes. Stay tuned.
By the way, I am definitely looking to tour again. Any national or international acts that need a sax, keyboard, vocalist musician, I am your man.

As of 2015 KZfaq has a bigger fanbase (this means it's more popular, if you can't think further than your nose) than ANY television programme ever aired. So its impossible to show more people, than post it on KZfaq.

I ran into this on my first day of jazz Band in 8th grade. I’m now in my 3rd year of college and I listen to this and think of all of the memories this is tied to. My friends and I trying to recreate this in the band room. Long nights doing homework and listening to this. It’s listened/seen this video countless times. Honestly makes me want to pick up my saxophone and Try to play this. It’s been 4 years since I’ve played it. Thank you for this, truly touched my heart to the max. Life changing to say the least

A weird, yet intriguing conversation. It's saturday morning, I woke up really early and felt the need to hear some sax. Hearing this fine music over my weekend morning coffee and reading a quite personal conversation between two complete strangers while still rubbing my eyes... You gotta love the internet. Life is good today, and although it's raining I'm going to take the Honda out for a spin after my shower. Thanks for the unworldly morning experience, and peace to both of ya! :)

Hi Marty, I had about 35 lessons as a newbie on the alto sax, then the world abruptly stood still, with the Lockdown in March 2020. ( so couldn't carry on with lessons) with listening to your beautiful playing - NEED to get back to playing most days, like I was!!

I have heard it covered a million times on sax and this one has to be my favorite. I would have assumed it was Hank Crawford if i walked into a room and this was playing. And I mean that as a huge compliment. Love the tone and style.

This may sound like a stupid question, but how long does it take to get this good at the saxophone? Is it a difficult instrument to learn? Are there particularly difficult techniques with the saxophone? It's one of my favourite instrument sounds. I play piano, drums, guitar so already have 'an ear' for music, and I would love to learn the saxophone!
