MARUV is a great live performer as well, and a lot of energy. As a Dutch living in Kiev and been to a concert of her i can really appreciate it.

The national selections are competitions in the participating countries. The winners will be the entry for Eurovision. That being said, this was the winner in Ukraine for 2019, but Ukraine withdrew their entry so they did not perform at the Eurovision songcontest that year. How or why: let's just say there was an unsolvable disagreement between artist and organisation in the terms of contract.

So national selection are shows that determine the artist/song or artist+song for Eurovision chosen by a jury/international jury and a public vote. many countries use this format. others go for a internal selection (behind the scene). Sweden has the mother of national selections with their Melodifestivalen contest (argueable the most popular national selection too). Albania (December) is usually the first country to choose their entry through a national selection and Sweden usually is one of the last (March). Please react to this entry from the Swedish selection from 2017 that didnt made it to Eurovision but ended 3rd in the selection

It might not be an actual competition entry. Davina's Power of Water wasn't an actual entry, but it was on Eurovision. Pretty good song, good reaction!

It was gonna be a competition entry until the Ukrainian broadcast decided to fuck Maruv over and making her pay for everything, cancelling shows in Russia and etc. Maruv and her team pulled out and the runner up and 3rd place from the national selection declined the offer to go out of respect to her. it sure was a messy season haha
