One thing for sure is I REALLY want to see gameplay now. They look real man. And I honestly would want comic book movies like this. Something like the Batman Arkham trailers.

Soon as I saw Amy Hennig's name + studio attached to this my hype was kinda elevated. I need to chill out a bit until i see gameplay, but she's an OG that's been attached to some of the most revered game IPs including Legacy of Kain and Uncharted

I just want more good superhero games. Arkham knight, Spider-Man, and guardians of the galaxy are really the only ones In recent memory worth playing.

This was a stellar demo for UE4, not for the game. I thought everyone caught on to this 5 to 10 years ago, but i guessed wrong. It seems like we're still very much pleased with hiding gameplay and mechanics behind shiny cinematic trailers and "strong assurances" of nothing nefarious occurring in the production of the game. Wonderful.

Yes you can increase the snow and other textures with some dials and sliders, but... don't forget you have to preplan for that. It's not that every object has this built-in function of 'snow accumulation' or something. This has to be supported by the shader of every object that you want this effect. So if that board meeting happens and the general manager asks if he can play with the snow-slider, the tech artist probably still has to go to his desk and create that slider. And of course when in the next meeting, some other creative input (like: "now I also want some parts of the snow to be melted when close to a heat source, and the material should look wet and can I control the softness for that transition, that would be grrrreaaat") will make sure that same artist has to go back to his desk again to make more sliders/options/variables. In other words: giving people more tools to make detailed stuff also creates more things to think of, talk about and feedback on. Game development time will still increase, because the bar for these things is constantly being raised.

I picked up the Order for like £5 in CEX a few years later, and loved it. The dense but short run time was a real breath of fresh air for me Non of this would have applied had I paid full price for it, however.

Now we just pray sweet baby stays away.

In response to what you say at 22:10 About you being surprised it takes some of these developers so long. You have to remember this is a new software new technology that all the people utilizing it have to learn before they can just start turning dials and utilizing the engine for these results. I guarantee you. Everybody took a year. Just to learn what is possible and how to achieve it within the new engine.

Ms. Hennig. One of the few creators whom I actually get excited about when her games are announced. I was so let down when they squished her Star Wars game. She's up there with the Dave Gaiders and Casey Hudsons of the industry. Dare I say the Sven Vinkas and Warren Specters... She just makes and guides awesome games. This looks incredible. I actually clapped at the end of the demo. Nice.

Legacy of kain: defiance as director, writer Jax 3 as director Uncharted 1,2,3 as creative director, writer. Uncharted golden abyss as story consultant. Battlefield hardline as writer. Forspoken (yikes) but only did the story concept. (Which could have been good) but others at square enix actually wrote the story, based on her concept.

They cant even get a game that looks like its from 2015 .... like Dragons dogma 2 ...to run on the most expensive pc`s in the world :D ....but at the same time they come up wth this ...thats funny :D... If they would put out game graphics like that now ...ur pc will just auto shut down xD

yeah it looks good. with amy it'll most likely have a good to great story. but thing with games is... how and what is the gameplay. without that it might as well not exist and just be a movie instead.

This type of graphical fidelity these games have makes me cast my mind back to when I first played GTA 4 for the first time on the ps3, the first game I ever played on it too, and being absolutely blown away and thinking "this is so photo-realistic. There's no way they can make games look better than this." And of course now I can go back and look at footage of gta 4 and realise how naive I was. It almost kinda looks like complete ass these days compared to what games we're getting in the 2020's, as did most ps3 games now I think about it. I just wonder once again, looking at this stuff, how can it possibly get any better? And if it does, as in if it gets better from now in the way gta 4 did back in the day, the future is truly going to blow our freaking minds. Games will be completely indistinguishable from real life, and that both excites me and scares me.

When I look at "RYSE: Son of Rome" (Xbox One) game I do not even think that ray tracing is needed. Very good lightening like SW Lumen + metahuman graphics and photogrammetry should be enough in some cases.

It's sad that the gameplay that was there was mostly great in the Order. I was hoping this could have enough leggs to get a second game but unfortunetely it was not. Glad to see Amy Hennig and I hope this game will see the light of day as it looks amazing.

The first thing i thought when seen the trailer was... yeah... okay, cool, but where is the gameplay? It's not THAT hard to make ultra realistic graphics with Unreal, and as you develop a game, you HAVE to test things in real time, so this don't woe me at all. I meah, realtime shadows in a volumetric smoke can be faked from a mesh with tesselation and it works in the same exact way in Unity, for example (btw, it's what i'm making in my own game). Twigs and stones and snow appearing out of nowhere in real time with high detailed textures and shit? Microsplat can do the exact same thing with godlike performance and in real time. Metahuman is amazing indeed, but i would trade everything in this demo for a descent gameplay and a non-cashgrab game. Arkhan Knight was the pinnacle IMO, because graphics are amazing, gameplay is perfect, narrative is perfect, and you don't REALLY NEED to make NOTHING better than it to make a amazing game. If this game was the absolute limit to how good graphics can be, i think we would get far far far far faaaar better games, because the gameplay would be focus,. If all you have are perfect graphics It's like having a Fiat Toro: it looks like a badass 4x4, but it get stuck in shin height obstacles, so it's beutifull, but it won't get you far. Also, let's be skeptical and don't get excited about common practices in gamedev too, thanks. ON THE OTHER SIDE: AMAZING for cinema, period.

Honestly I don`t care about graphics in videogames that much, if a game has good graphics that is just a bonus. I don`t care how good the graphics is the gameplay to me is VERY, VERY important, yh the graphics in a game might look nice but when you`re playing the game it just fades away and you are focused on the game. I played Darksiders 2 on my xbox 360 and the graphics looks bad compared to todays games but when I was playing I had so much fun with the game I didn`t think about the graphics. Even through I like Stellar Blade I like it for the gameplay, the "good graphics" is just a bonus. I also like when Black panther said "I do not take orders from anyone" sick voice actor however I'm not too keen on how BP face looks, I'm hoping the combat has combos like a hack & slash game since that combo system is the best and if that is the case i`m sold.
